Commercial Construction Carpenter – Transportation & Infrastructure Projects

Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Commercial Construction Carpenter to join our team for work on high-profile commercial, transportation, and infrastructure projects. This role is essential to the successful execution of projects such as airports, highways, bridges, office buildings, and other large-scale structures. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of modern carpentry techniques, be comfortable working on active construction sites, and have experience with DOT, public works, or heavy civil construction. A strong focus on quality, safety, and teamwork is a must. Responsibilities • Perform layout, measuring, cutting, and installation of formwork, framing, and other structural elements • Assist in infrastructure-related carpentry work such as bridge decking, concrete forms, guardrails, and custom structures • Collaborate with site supervisors, laborers, and other trades to ensure timely and accurate work • Perform rough and finished carpentry work in the repair and construction of buildings, roofs and other items. • Accurately measure, cut and join wood, drywall, fiberglass, plastic and other building materials. • Frame structures and walls and install cabinets, ceilings, doors, floors, fixtures, prefabricated panels and scaffolding. • Use power tools including but not limited to, electric saws, hammer drill, drills, reciprocating saws, band saw, jig saw, miter boxes, pneumatic nail guns and sanding machines. • Verify trueness of structure or other building components using plumb bob and level • Proficient in use of hand tools including but not limited to hammers, levels, tape measure, chisels, pliers, wrenches, pry bars, cat’s claw, block planes, hand sanders, utility knives, tin snips and squares. • Construct braces and specialty concrete forms • Shape or cut materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or power saw. • Assemble and fasten material together to construct wood or metal framework of structure, using bolts, nails, or screws. • Erect and align forms, framework, scaffolds, hoists, roof supports, or chutes. • Build or repair cabinets, doors, frameworks, floors, stairs and other wooden fixtures used in buildings, using woodworking machines, carpenter's hand tools, and power tools. • Remove damaged or defective parts or sections of structures and repair or replace, using hand tools. • Loads, unloads, and identifies building materials, machinery, and tools. Distributes site materials to the appropriate locations, according to project plans and specifications. Responsible for ensuring that all materials are properly distributed, and the site is swept and well maintained. • Experienced in construction layout, blueprint reading or building plans and shop drawing reading. • Install windows utilizing flashing systems to protect windows, doors, and other non-roof detail areas from the negative effects of water and moisture. • Possess knowledge of common tools and equipment used in carpentry work, along with ways of maintaining and repairing them. • Promotes a safe work environment - adhere to all OSHA safety practices and procedures, communicates jobsite hazards and complete other responsibilities as assigned Skills & Qualifications: • High School Diploma or GED. • Valid Driver’s License. • Must be able to take initiative and ask questions. • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality workmanship. • Minimum 2+ years of hands-on carpentry experience in commercial, transportation, or infrastructure construction projects. • Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with co-workers and stakeholders. • Strong mathematical reasoning and quantitative skills. • Ability to perform heavy lifting and manage physical demands of the job, climb ladders, work off ladders, man lifts, etc. • Ability to maintain a standing position for extended periods of time, fully squat, bend or kneel while wearing a tool belt. • Proficient in carpentry techniques - installation and fabrication, etc. • Ability to lift 50+ lbs, work in various weather conditions, and perform physical tasks for extended periods. • Must be reliable and punctual. This includes having reliable transportation and consistent work attendance. • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot issues on-site. • Effective communication skills for collaboration with team members. • Salary based on experience and project classification.
