Main Activities: • Lay out forms for building footings and foundation walls. • Pour and finish concrete. • Frame buildings using either wood or metal studs • Put building sheathings and siding up. • Install windows and doors. • Install cabinets and trims including crown moldings, base and casing. Skills: • Must be able to read and understand building drawings. • Must be able to calculate and understand measurements and angles. • Must be able to operate all hand and power tools. Demands: • A carpenter must work outside and inside in all different weather conditions including extreme cold and heat. A carpenter may be exposed to unpleasant sights and smells. A carpenter may be exposed to dangerous chemicals and substances and must take the necessary safety precautions to protect themselves.
