About the Position: This role involves performing general construction work under the supervision of a skilled professional. As a Telecommunication Construction Laborer, you will be responsible for installing and maintaining underground fiber optic and other telecommunications cabling service lines. Key Responsibilities: • Perform general construction tasks as directed by the supervisor • Install and maintain underground fiber optic and other telecommunications cabling service lines • Operate or work around various types of construction equipment and machinery • Hand dig using shovel and/or mechanical tools • Maintain visual and audible contact with other crew members and all moving or stationary persons/vehicles/objects to ensure safe coordination of movement • Restore worksites after completion • Adhere to all safety regulations, procedures and policies • Set up safety perimeters using signage, cones and safety barriers and at times flag traffic Requirements: • Holding a valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record is mandatory • Familiarity with hand tools and equipment in a safe working environment is essential • The ability to communicate effectively with customers, colleagues, etc. is required • Regular and timely attendance is crucial for this position • Overtime, after hours and weekend shifts may be required along with on-call duties for emergency call-outs as needed • Awareness and adherence to OSHA and FMCSA/DOT regulatory requirements is necessary • Prolonged travel throughout the region is involved Preferred Qualifications: • Familiarity with operating various types of utility trucks and equipment safely is beneficial • An unrestricted Class A CDL with Tanker Endorsement would grant higher wages Physical Demands: • Climbing into and out of vehicles and equipment (trucks, cars, backhoes, trenchers, etc.) • Lifting/carrying 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 LBS occasionally with or without assistance • Duties require standing, walking, climbing, balancing, crawling, crouching, lifting, holding or stooping while on shift • Working while wearing safety boots, glasses and hardhat is necessary • Exposure to dust, fumes or airborne pathogens may occur • Remote work might be required - extended driving and sitting will be involved in these instances • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions including extreme temperatures; wind, rain, snow, sleet and dust; and adverse driving conditions like wet roads, icy roads, and fog
