See More Details >>About the position Responsibilities • Work in a team environment with co-workers and managers. • Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with safety policies and procedures. • Follow all company policies and OSHA regulations for safe working procedures. • Report any problems to the manager. • Perform a wide range of general carpenter duties on a heavy highway crew and bridge work. • Assemble and fasten materials using hand tools and wood screws, nails, dowel pins, or glue. • Measure and mark cutting lines on material using ruler, pencil, and marking gauge. • Prepare layout according to blueprints or oral instructions using rule, framing square, and calipers. • Remove damaged or defective parts or sections of structure and repair or replace them using hand tools. • Shape or cut materials to specified measurements using hand tools, machines, or power saws. • Perform other duties as assigned, including shoveling, raking, traffic control, and moving materials. Requirements • Minimum high school diploma or GED required. • Previous related experience in the construction field is preferred. • Must pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check. • Must pass a pre-employment 'Fit for Work' physical. • Must provide valid documentation for the I-9 Immigration document. • Must have a recent TWIC card. • 1 year or more experience as a carpenter. Nice-to-haves • Experience with concrete work and tying steel rebar. • Ability to work nights and weekends when necessary. • Experience working outdoors in extreme temperatures.
