Reads and interprets blueprints, drawings and instructions to build, maintain and repair various types of facilities and structures. 2. Performs demolition of offices, classrooms, and labs prior to renovations. 3. As the Carpenter, you are responsible for completing the skilled carpentry work according to project plans and supervisory instruction. Under general supervision, you will perform master-level work in the design, construction, repair and maintenance of structures and related physical facilities and perform related work as required. You are responsible for the full range of rough skilled carpentry work, using, or working from one or more blueprints, as-built, specifications, drawings, or instructions to design, build, retrofit, maintain, and construct various types of facilities and structures. You must inspect completed work for conformance with specifications, requirements, and compliance with applicable building and safety codes and regulations with the supervisor. How will you do it? • Complete skilled carpentry/structural work according to instructions, project specifications, and plans. • Act as lead worker to other classified staff and helpers/laborers in the area. • Clean, maintain, adjust, calibrate, and service small tools/equipment used in the performance of duties. • Monitor work done by outside contractors for adherence to contract requirements (including state and federal Code Requirements) and report back to the supervisor. • Assist in inspections, testing, and reviewing of specifications for general carpentry project specification requirements. • Maintain a neat workspace and organize tools, materials, and supplies throughout the day to maintain a professional working environment. • Comply with all safety requirements and participate in safety meetings. • Review daily task assignments and clarify any material needs with the supervisor. • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. • Perform other duties as directed.
