Promax Construction, a Decatur based General Contractor, is seeking skilled carpenters to add to our team. We are looking for reliable and hard-working people for one or more of the following construction trades: • Siding, Window & Door Installer • Deck and Patio Construction • Kitchen and Bath Remodels • Interior Trim & Cabinetry • Misc. Custom Carpentry Candidate must have a valid driver's license and truck. Promax Construction is a family owned company based in Decatur, Illinois. CIVIL/CARPENTER FOREMAN Austin Industrial Decatur, IL

About the position The Civil Carpenter Foreman at Austin Industrial is responsible for overseeing the construction, erection, installation, and repair of structures and fixtures made from wood, plywood, and wallboard. This role requires the use of various carpenter's hand tools and power tools to accomplish tasks effectively. The foreman will study specifications in blueprints, sketches, or building plans to prepare project layouts and determine the necessary dimensions and materials required for each project. The position demands a strong adherence to safety rules and regulations to maintain a safe and clean working environment. In addition to hands-on carpentry work, the foreman will be responsible for supervising a team of 1 to 5 carpenter helpers. This includes carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Austin Industrial's policies and procedures, which encompasses interviewing, hiring, and training employees, as well as planning, assigning, and directing work. The foreman will also be tasked with appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, and addressing complaints and resolving problems as they arise. The role requires a strong set of competencies, including problem-solving skills, project management abilities, technical skills, and effective communication skills. The foreman must demonstrate leadership qualities, inspire respect and trust among team members, and manage change effectively. Requirements • High school diploma or general education degree (GED). , • One to three years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. , • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. , • Ability to write simple correspondence and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations. , • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. , • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
