Carpenter Helper - College Station, TX

Bartlett Cocke General Contractors is currently seeking a Carpenter Helpers to join our team in the College Station area! The Carpenter Helper assists the carpenters on the construction site. This role assists with tasks such as repairing, constructing, or dismantling wooden/metal/concrete objects on construction jobsites. The position must be able to identify a variety of hand tools, power tools and equipment. This position will also keep work areas clean when needed and prepare material and sites for the work activity. Essential Job Functions And Responsibilities • Assists the carpenter with carpentry duties to include but not limited to building forms, chutes, rails, stairs, and other structures as required. • Maintains a clean jobsite, picks up all tools and equipment and secures tools on job site each day to eliminate potential hazards. • Performs material handling and storage. • Loads and unloads material from trucks, manually hauls and/or hoists materials. • Establish the punch list process and close-out procedures with the Project Manager, Owner, and Architect. • Ensures that work is performed in a safe manner. • Ensures that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. • Reports problems to the attention of the Foreman, Superintendent, or Safety Manager. Minimum Qualifications • Must be physically fit. • Must have good eyesight. • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. • Must be able to work at heights and on roofs. • Must possess the aptitude, interest, and ability to operation machinery. • Will be required to wear PPE to include hard hat, safety glasses, safety vest, gloves, and work boots. • HS Diploma or equivalent required. Work Environment While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and outdoor weather conditions to include heat, humidity, dust, cold, and at times inclement weather. The noise level in the jobsite environment is usually loud. Must be comfortable and able to work in unpleasant and hazardous environments. Physical Demand This position lifts heavy objects, walks and stands for long periods of time and performs strenuous activities under adverse field conditions. Climb ladders and climb into equipment, work on scaffolds, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch. This employee lifts, pushes, pulls, or carries objects; uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue. The position requires good manual dexterity (hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination. The position requires the ability to quickly move arms to signal, grab, pull, push, carry, or turn objects, materials, or tools. Sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, and reach with hands and arms. Use hands to operate equipment and to use tools. Close vision, distance vision, color vision, adjust focus. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
