Position Information Job Title Offshore Wind Project Coordinator Posting Number 201000768 Posting Type Regular Contract End Date Salary Range Hiring Range $25.09 - $26 per hour Full Time or Part Time Full Time If Part Time, List Work Hours Position Summary Information Job Description Summary The Center for Coastal Marine Sciences (CCMS) at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo seeks a motivated individual to serve as Offshore Wind (OSW) Project Coordinator. The incumbent will assist with projects related to Cal Poly’s efforts to support responsible development of OSW, including but not limited to projects related to developing OSW monitoring guidance for California, outreach and engagement to local and regional communities, agencies, collaborators, and industry, and syntheses of scientific information related to environmental effects of OSW, among other tasks. Minimum Qualifications • BA/BS from an accredited four-year university in biology or marine science or equivalent • At least 6 months working on projects related to offshore wind, including demonstrated understanding of the complexities of OSW • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and perform work in various situations where numerous and diverse demands are involved, with input from supervisors. • Ability to adjust priorities when coordinating multiple assignments with fluctuating and time-sensitive deadlines, with input from supervisors. • Strong oral and written communication skills including the ability to effectively communicate information in a clear and understandable manner to a range of audiences and the ability to write for scientific and non-technical audiences. • Experience with or the ability to learn administrative processes at Cal Poly • Demonstrated experience organizing and managing disparate workflows to meet schedules and requirements with input from supervisors. • Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite • Ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of personalities. • Must be able to obtain and maintain approval to operate vehicles on university business Preferred Qualifications • Demonstrated understanding of the many complex issues related to OSW energy development in California and the US West Coast • Demonstrated ability to synthesize scientific information on environmental issues related to OSW Physical Demands • Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person or on the telephone • Dexterity of hands, fingers, and wrist to operate a computer keyboard and calculator • Seeing to read a variety of materials • Sitting or standing for extended period of time • Physical agility to lift 30 pounds to shoulder height, and lift, carry, push, or pull objects • Commuting on an as needed basis to outside meetings and training locations Typical Essential Functions The duties of the OSW Project Coordinator are varied. They will include: • Assisting with a project developing environmental monitoring guidance for California, in collaboration with the California Marine Sanctuary Foundation and state agency staff • Assisting with outreach to local communities and tribal groups • Assisting with outreach to local and regional agency staff and elected officials • Coordinating Cal Poly activities with partners in the Pacific Offshore Wind Consortium, including academics, agency staff, nonprofit organizations, and industry representatives • Coordinating OSW activities in the Cal Poly community • Assisting with syntheses of scientific information for publications and leading syntheses of scientific and technical information for public audiences • Assisting with logistics and coordination for in-person and virtual meetings and webinars • Other duties related to OSW and CCMS as needed Special Instructions to Applicants Cal Poly Partners provides excellent benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, retirement, paid sick leave/vacation and 14 holidays.
