About the position Leonardo DRS is seeking experienced Aluminum Welders to join our team in West Plains, MO, specifically for second shift positions. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding) and GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding) processes, particularly for aluminum, and must be able to pass rigorous assessment testing. This role requires proficiency in welding various thicknesses of aluminum, ranging from 0.125 to 1 inch, and the ability to perform 2G and 3G downhill plate tests using the GMAW process, as well as a 2G plate test using the GTAW process. In this position, you will be responsible for producing high-quality work that meets prescribed standards while adhering to safety procedures and maintaining a safe work environment. You will follow written work instructions and utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure compliance with safety regulations. The role also involves supporting and communicating the mission, values, and culture of Leonardo DRS, as well as understanding the requirements of various welding processes and performing them on specific metal types. A strong understanding of welding codes and specifications, including AWS (American Welding Society) and ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers), is essential. Additionally, you will be expected to read blueprints, interpret weld symbols, and conduct visual inspections of weldments to confirm compliance with various codes and standards.
