Positioning and connecting various steel parts by hand, use of torch, grinders, saws, drills, and related equipment is essential. Inspects and assures parts comply with drawing specifications. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: • Set up equipment, cuts and welds parts using gas-shielded arc and gas cutting equipment. Cleans weld spatter and metal finishes parts as required. • Lay out, position, align, and fit components together. Bolts, clamps, fixtures, and tack-welds parts to secure in position for welding. • Repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts. • Operate hand drills, drill presses, hand grinders, band saw and air tools. • Unload incoming shipments delivered to their point of use at assembly. • Visually inspect outer packaging and inner contents for damage, refusing damaged goods. Count, weigh, and measure parts and materials and compare quantity, description, and part numbers to the packing slip. Deliver paperwork to the shop office. Store materials appropriately. • Clean work area. • Other duties may be assigned.
