The Certified Welder will be responsible for assembling components, performing plasma cutting, and ensuring all welds meet industry standards. Duties • Read and interpret blueprints and schematics to determine project specifications. • Assemble metal components using various welding techniques, including FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding). • Perform plasma cutting and pipe threading as required for projects. • Operate machinery such as press brake machines and forklifts safely and efficiently. • Conduct quality checks on welds using tools such as calipers to ensure precision. • Collaborate with team members on construction sites to meet project deadlines. • Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety protocols at all times. Job Summary Performs all types of mechanical jobs throughout the plant and quarry, during regular operation schedule and mechanical maintenance. Welding jobs include actual equipment and machinery and/or new pieces of equipment and structures needed for the normal operation of the plant and quarry. This job interfaces, on a daily basis, with the rest of the operations in this location. The employee holding this job must perform the work activities in a correct, accurate and timely fashion due to the fact that every single work activity in our line of business is crucial for the whole operation. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is performed while intermittently sitting, standing, walking, stooping, bending, and crouching.  The employee frequently lifts heavy objects. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work is performed in a truck and outdoors. The work exposes the employee to much noise, dust, dirt, grease, machinery with moving parts, contagious diseases, irritating chemicals, foul odors and inclement weather. The work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, ear protection, safety shoes, or gloves. SAFETY SENSITIVE: This position has been identified as safety-sensitive. SUPERVISORY CONTROLS:  The Crew Leader - Solid Waste assigns work in terms of somewhat general instructions.  The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with instructions and established procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results. GUIDELINES: Guidelines include departmental and safety rules and regulations, and supervisory instructions.  These guidelines are generally clear and specific, but require some interpretation in application. COMPLEXITY: The work consists of related duties.  Inclement weather and equipment breakdowns contribute to the complexity of the work. SCOPE AND EFFECT: The purpose of this assignment is to assist in the collection, transport, and disposal of solid waste.  The effect of this work is to maintain a clean environment and provide a timely service to the general public.
