Welder and Fabricator 1st Shift

We are seeking an Aluminum MIG Welder to become an integral part of our team! The Welder will use specialized equipment to weld and assemble new metal forms. Seeking applicants for 1st! Welder/Fabricator

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Prepare, layout, and weld stainless steel sheet used in industrial washer manufacturing and assembly according to blue prints and/or cut sheets 2. Understand and apply wire feed and TIG welding techniques. Work quickly and skillfully with the hands. Accept responsibility for the work performed. Visualize what the finished product should look like 3. Operate welding equipment with skill 4. Use a disc grinder to smooth out, weld, or grind parts prior to welding 5. Operate manual and automated welding units and equipment by depositing metal from electrode to work piece and joins edges of work piece 6. Maintain length of arc and speed of movement to form specified depth of fusion and bead 7. Weld in flat and vertical planes (all position welding) 8. Examine weld for bead size and other specifications 9. Grind or clean weld joint of the work piece 10. Recognize and repair improperly welded pieces and fill holes 11. Position and clamp work pieces together or assemble them in a jig fixture 12. Follow all quality requirements 13. Responsible for following all safety requirements 14. Discuss errors in prints or production orders with supervisor or engineer to eliminate manufacturing problems 15. Facility housekeeping (5S) ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS 1. Dress code is casual (T-shirt and jeans. No sweats). Safety glasses and shoes are mandatory 2. Maintain a positive attitude, and ability to work agreeably with customers, co-workers, and manager 3. Willingness to help discover and implement ideas to improve work processes and welding performance 4. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to fill out routine reports 5. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 6. Apply common sense understanding to carry out work instructions EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred Five years production welding experience or equivalent combination of experience and welding school education Ability PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to reach with hands and arms and use hands to finger, handle or feel Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds Specific vision abilities including close vision and color vision Ability to stand for prolonged periods throughout the day Ability to pass drug and alcohol testing as required by the SPIRE Associate Handbook and outside agency requirements Exposed to welding fumes and airborne particles.
