GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Provides technical assistance to hourly production associates. Requires the ability to set-up and troubleshoot robotic arc welding and spot-welding work cells, train associates, and operate production equipment throughout area of responsibility. REPORTS TO: Shift Supervisor SUPERVISION GIVEN: Lead Operations on shift, both personnel and technical PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity. Requires normal vision, hearing, and speech range. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds throughout an 8-hour day. Prolonged standing, lifting stooping, bending, and stretching. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in a shop environment. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Standardize procedures to improve efficiency of production associates. 2. Coordinate with planning work assignments in accordance with preventative maintenance, machine capacity, production schedules, and anticipated delays. 3. Set up jobs and fixtures in robots. 4. Operate machinery and run production as needed. 5. Touch up robot programs as needed. 6. Troubleshoot weld process. 7. Train new operators, record production, and process required paperwork. 8. Evaluate and repair fixtures as needed. 9. Perform assigned preventative maintenance and do minor maintenance repairs. 10. Troubleshoot PLC related issues as needed. 11. Help with continuous improvement, program fixtures and processes. 12. Change gas and wire as needed. 13. Replace welders and robot hardware when required. 14. Periodically checks for quality of product and maintains proper reports. 15. Detects and reports defective components or questionable conditions to the Operations Manager or Quality department. 16. Must be able to interact with fellow associates and supervisors. 17. All other duties assigned to be performed as required in a safe manner with attention to quality. EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or GED required. Prior experience in manufacturing environment required, robotic/welding experience preferred. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: - Steel-toed shoes and safety glasses required while performing duties in production areas. - Maintain organized schedules and filing. - Some computer literacy and data entry knowledge. - Experience with arc welding and/or spot welding. - Experience with industrial robots (Such as Yaskawa or Fanuc). - Basic electrical experience. Our products protect our customer’s goods while they are transported around the world. Champion GSE has immediate openings for Welders proficient at aluminum and/or steel. GMAW, SMAW, FCAW, GTAW (Steel) in flat, horizontal & vertical positions, GMAW, GTAW (aluminum) Purpose: Makes welded assemblies from two or more detail parts. Responsibilities: -Reading and understanding of blueprints for finished item. -Use required weld process for the product to be welded (GMAW, SMAW, FCAW, GTAW (Steel) in flat, horizontal & vertical positions and GMAW, GTAW (Aluminum)). -Obtain required fixtures for use in welding operation. -Use router and blueprint for set-up, weld requirements and inspection of welds. -Use tools, measuring tapes, squares, etc. to set up assemblies for welding when fixtures are not available. -Responsible for doing own set-ups as well as material handling. -Use of air tools such as grinders and impact wrenches. -Maintaining accurate timekeeping on jobs. -Moving components and final assemblies using lifting, hoists, and forklifts. -Must be thorough and exercise attention to detail. Experience: • 2-3 years welding experience in a manufacturing environment. • Proficient at aluminum GMAW and steel GMAW. • Interpretation of weld symbols. Physical Demands: Highly physical, ability to lift 50 pounds. Metal fabrication in a production environment. Exposure to weld fumes, spatter, etc. Work Environment: Manufacturing environment. Safety shoes, eye and ear protection required.
