About the position Responsibilities • Provide quality instruction in welding courses such as Basic Welding, Arc Welding, Tungsten Inert Gas Welding, and Metal Layout and Fabrication. • Plan and prepare for assigned instructional courses, demonstrating knowledge of content and pedagogy. • Develop instructional outcomes and appropriate evaluation and assessment methods of learning. • Create and maintain an environment of rapport and respect in the classroom. • Maintain accurate records on attendance and student progress. • Meet with students for academic planning and provide guidance on college resources. • Engage in the college community for professional networking and development. • Provide input into budgeting and decision-making processes. • Keep abreast of developments in the field of expertise and incorporate current technology into teaching. • Provide students with written and oral feedback on their progress. • Engage in self-assessment of teaching practices and professional development needs. • Oversee lab sessions and set up lab equipment for classes. Requirements • Associate's degree in subject area or Bachelor's degree for non-transferrable courses or Master's degree with 18 graduate hours. • Two years of experience teaching students in higher education. • Competence and experience to develop, revise, implement, and assess curriculum. • Familiarity with technology used in classroom settings. • Ability to teach in the evening and/or online classes with in-person labs during the day. • Commitment to high academic standards and student success. • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills. Nice-to-haves • Technical certifications in the instructional area. • Three to five years of vocational or related experience.
