Stainless Steel Welder

POSITION SUMMARY The SS Welder is responsible for the day-to-day production of Pulpmill Services’ specialty welding business. Responsibilities - The position requires the employee to perform a wide variety of duties including, but not limited to the following key functions: Essential Functions 1. Efficient in mig and/or tig welding of Stainless Steel 2. Proficient in reading weld symbols 3. Proficient in checking dimensions and thicknesses 4. Able to follow engineering plans, drawings and instructions 5. Other duties as required Expectations 1. Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, etc. 2. Great sense of urgency 3. Good communication and people skills 4. Be able to think quickly and critically in response to scope changes on small to large equipment 5. Experience working in a metal fabrication shop 6. Ability to work independently and with other personnel 7. Ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving your whole body such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping and handling materials Qualifications- • 2+ years of high alloy welding experience. • Valid driver’s license/State ID. • Ability to pass a background check and drug screen. Welder Pay Range: • $15-$25hr • Paid WEEKLY Welder Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Receive and understand welding symbols and select proper welding material needed to finish for fitting, painting, and shipping. • Locate pieces approved by Quality Control for welding. Gather equipment necessary to complete the job. • Clean welded pieces for the next phase of processing. • Responsible for adhering to all company safety and QA/QC programs and OSHA regulations. • The ability to work overtime and regular, punctual attendance is required. • Perform non-essential functions as needed. Welder Qualifications: • Minimum of 1-2 years' welding experience required. • Must be able to read and comprehend welding symbols and instructions. • Must be able to read and understand structural drawings. • Must be able to pass a tape measure test. • Must have ability to pass an unlimited thickness groove plate test in the horizontal or vertical and overhead positions using FCAW. • Must be able to carbon arc gouge the back side of butt joints to sound metal. Welder Physical Demands: • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds frequently. • Considerable amounts of overtime and weekend work may be required. • Excessive amounts of bending and stooping to weld in difficult positions. • Must be able to tolerate temperature fluctuations, and a dusty/noisy work environment. This role is classified as safety sensitive. Candidates must show the capacity to proactively initiate, effectively lead, and consistently uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards. Job Summary and Responsibilities • Pipeline welding and fabrication welding of pipeline facilities • Maintenance welding on equipment as directed • Direct crew activities • Steel/plastic Inspector certified • Operate and repair construction equipment, trenching/shoring • As directed, perform other tasks such as rough carpentry, painting, maintenance of welding shop, etc. • At management’s discretion, when the Welder has no welding to perform, they will be assigned work that they are qualified to perform. Expectation is to pass the CDL test within 180 days of accepting position • Must remain in position for five (5) years from the time of their certification to Company requirements • PC knowledge and applicable software beneficial • Highly organized, flexible. Human relations and communication skills are essential in working effectively with customers and field offices • Writing skills necessary to prepare proper paperwork. Analytical and reasoning skills • Able to recognize and report abnormal operating conditions.
