Duties and Responsibility of Welders • Inspect welds for accuracy • Maintain clean, safe and organized work environment • Setting & adjusting settings of weld equipment • Occasionally use hand plasma • Occasionally reading blueprints and drawings and taking measurements to plan layout and procedures • Setting up components for welding according to specifications • Occasionally operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded • Align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces • Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead) • Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws • Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety Welder Qualifications • Proficient with hand tools • Self-motivated • Problem Solver • Safety Conscious • Experience in using electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, calipers etc.) • Some ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings • Good Attendance & Safety Record • Print Reading Preferred but Not Always Required • 1yr Minimum in Either Welding School or On the Job Welding Experience Required • Some experience with pulse MIG required Armor Lite provides competitive wages, room for advancement, affordable insurance including medical, dental, and vision, a vacation pay, holiday pay, and a 401k plan which the company matches after a year of investment. Previous welding experience in a similar manufacturing plant is preferred but not required. Applicants must be self-motivated, have reliable transportation, good attendance, and willing to work overtime as needed. Safety training will be provided and adherence to safety procedures is required. Some material handling and forklift driving may be required. Responsibilities • Selecting, measuring, cutting, and joining appropriate metals to specifications. • Preparing metals and work surfaces to ensure safe and effective assemblage. • Interpreting specifications and blueprints accurately. • Training welding apprentices and mentoring recruits. • Regularly cleaning and inspecting welding equipment and tools. • Operating cranes and other machinery to transport materials to welding worksites. • Determining correct gas ratios. • Testing the strength of each join during and after project completion. • Diagnosing issues and troubleshooting as required. • Liaising with the line manager or supervisor, reporting any issues, and making suggestions for improvement. Skills • High school diploma or similar. • A completed apprenticeship or vocational training. • A relevant certificate from a welding association may be required. • Excellent stamina, strength, and dexterity. • Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure. • Sound understanding of welding safety. • The ability to teach would be advantageous. A willingness to learn and work overtime when required.
