Welder Helper Welder Helpers assist Fitters and Welders in the fabrication of heavy structural steel assemblies. General Expectations and Responsibilities ▪ Follow ADF safety procedures and practices. ▪ Keep work areas clean and ready for work. ▪ Assist Welders and Fitters as needed. ▪ Assist with basic part, hole, and bevel layouts. ▪ Sort parts for Fitters to maintain workflow as needed. ▪ Understand basic welding principles. ▪ Safely and efficiently operate hand and power tools. ▪ Understand basic use and set up of oxyfuel cutting. ▪ Understand basic use and set up of plasma cutters. ▪ Understand heat distortion and prevention. ▪ Clean and properly store tools and equipment at the end of shift. ▪ Help protect tools and equipment from damage. ▪ Strong communication skills. ▪ May be asked to perform duties that are not listed. ▪ Any other related duties and special projects as needed. Physical Requirements ▪ Must be able to stand/walk for 10 hours at a time. ▪ Ability to bend, squat, kneel for varying lengths of time. ▪ Ability to fully articulate shoulder, elbow, hand, and wrist. ▪ Must be able to grasp and safely operate hand and power tools. ▪ Must be able to occasionally push, pull, lift, pull, or carry up to 75lbs. ▪ Must be able to work in various conditions (loud, hot, dusty, cold, etc.). ▪ Must be able to occasionally ascend/descend on ladders.
