JOB SUMMARY Leitner-Poma of America, Inc. is seeking an ambitious, detail-oriented MIG Welder I to jumpstart their career in metal fabrication! Under the guidance of seasoned professionals, you will learn fundamental welding tasks using metal inert gas (MIG) welding equipment. This role will understand and apply welding techniques, working quickly & skillfully with their hands and with others to complete components in specified time frame. As part of this position, you will also train for & achieve your 1G and 1F welding certifications within your first 3 months. This is a full-time, hourly position hiring at $19.00-$24.00 per hour based on relevant experience & certifications. We work hard during the week and enjoy our time off on the weekend. Responsibilities • Welding of steel • Follow all safety protocols including wearing PPE and required PPE at all times. Required PPE is defined as gloves, safety glasses, and steel toe boots. Additional PPE, such as hard hats, flame-resistant clothing, hearing protection, face shields, respirators, etc., may be required depending on the specific tasks being performed or the work area. • Duties, responsibilities, and reporting relationships may fluctuate or evolve in light of your skill, experience, and the company’s needs. • Must obtain welding certification within 30 days of hire; the company will cover the cost of certification. Qualifications & Experience • The ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check is required. • 1+ years of structural steel welding experience in a manufacturing environment. • Experience in cutting, grinding, or fabricating steel structures. • AWS welding certification is a plus. • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols. • Familiarity with welding equipment, tools, and safety protocols. • Exceptional tape measure skills. • Diligent with great attention to detail and learns quickly. • Safety-oriented and conscious. • Must be able to walk, stand, use hands to handle tools, reach with arms, kneel, stoop, crouch, and talk and hear in noisy environments. • Must be able to regularly lift and move objects weighing up to 51 lbs independently and occasionally lift and move objects up to 100 lbs with the assistance of team lifts. The work environment is primarily indoors and will, at times, be exposed to natural weather elements such as heat, cold, sunlight, darkness, wind, rain, lightning, snow, and dust. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
