POSITION SUMMARY: The Construction and Maintenance Welder Technician for Marathon Pipe Line (MPL) is based out of Evanston, WY. This position will work around petroleum products and crude oil facilities executing various construction and maintenance activities. 75% travel, call-outs, and overtime will be required on an as-needed basis. MPL operates more than 10,000 miles of underground pipeline in 26 states. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate's primary responsibility will be to weld 6010/8010 downhill and 7018 uphill on mainline piping systems; pass all applicable API 1104 and Company required welding qualification tests and to apply the concepts while welding in many different situations. These situations could include, but are not limited to remediating pipeline anomalies by installation of a sleeve, prefab welding in a shop referring to prints, installing prefabricated components in the field per prints, and completing in-service pipeline cutouts and repairs. Work environment could consist of welding in a shop, on the right of way, in an excavated bell hole, or in a pipeline facility. Additional duties include: • Analyze engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, sketches, procedures to plan piping layout for welding operations. This includes completing mathematical calculations based on information, drawings, and field verified measurements. • Pipeline maintenance activities including manual labor, bolting, torquing, pipe fitting, fabrication, and hydrostatic testing. • Assist in spotting heavy equipment, rigging and lifting, line locating, and exposing lines/utilities during excavation. • Perform pipeline coating removal and application following company standards and procedures. • Perform general maintenance on a variety of equipment. • Provide support for damage prevention and right of way relations. • Perform emergency response activities. • Provide field support to various other MPL processes and departments. • Assure accordance with all regulations in support of DOT, Environmental, Safety and Regulatory compliance.
