Ultimately, this role is vital for supporting operational continuity and maximizing productivity in welding operations. Essential Duties: • Monitor and analyze inventory levels of welding materials and supplies to ensure availability for ongoing and upcoming projects. • Forecast future inventory requirements based on project schedules, consumption trends, and welding crew needs. • Coordinate with suppliers to place orders, manage delivery timelines, and handle any procurement issues. • Implement and maintain effective inventory tracking systems to optimize stock levels and reduce waste. • Collaborate with welding and fabrication teams to understand material needs and ensure just-in-time delivery to minimize downtime. • Ensure accurate billing, documentation, and reconciliation of all welding materials used. • Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment to receive, move, and store inventory. • Prepare and package welding supplies for delivery to job sites, field crews, or fabrication workstations. • Interpret blueprints and materials lists to verify availability of required items prior to project initiation. • Adhere to all safety, environmental, and operational procedures, especially when handling flammable materials or compressed gases. Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: • Knowledge of inventory management practices, material handling procedures, and welding supply needs. • Strong analytical skills with the ability to read and interpret data to forecast needs and make informed decisions. • Ability to communicate clearly with vendors, internal customers, and team members. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and inventory management software; experience with ERP systems is a plus. • Familiarity with welding processes, materials (e.g., rods, wire, gases), and equipment is strongly preferred. • Ability to safely operate forklifts and other material handling tools. • Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks independently. • Physical ability to lift, carry, and move heavy materials. Education and Experience: • High school diploma or equivalent (GED). • Proven experience in inventory management or supply chain planning, preferably in the oil and gas or industrial fabrication sectors. • Basic computer proficiency required (data entry, email, report generation). • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record. Working Conditions: • Warehouse/shop environment with occasional field delivery assignments. • Exposure to noise, fumes, dust, heavy materials, and variable temperatures. • Frequent lifting (up to 100 lbs), standing, walking, and bending. • Use of PPE including gloves, safety glasses, and steel-toed boots is required. • Forklift certification preferred or must be obtained after hire.
