This role, located in Farmington, NM is responsible for the welding to erect steel structures, skid's, guards, and many other welding duties. This type of welding is done by using a variety of designs, such as the groove weld, fillet weld, weld length, complete joint penetration, partial joint penetration, lap joints, weld size, weld spacing, transitions and the static and cyclical loading.Duties and responsibilities:Responsible for cleaning and maintaining tools used in structural welding.Perform a variety of welding techniques, including shielded metal arc, gas metal arc, and flux-cored arc weldingFollow proper safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work areaWelders work with very hot materials and are exposed to hazardous fumes, noises, vibrations, atmospheric conditions, oils, or other fluids.Read and interpret blueprints and welding specifications to fabricate, assemble, and weld structural metal components and productsAssist with general shop housekeeping duties and perform occasional metal fabrication tasks as neededEnsure adherence to quality standards and specifications by conducting visual inspections of welds and performing necessary repairs or modificationsSafely operate and maintain welding tools, equipment, and machinery such as MIG, TIG, and stick welding machinesEducation:Two or more years' experience welding on oilfield related equipment (or similar type equipment).Professional experience:Knowledge is required in the following areas: assembly; parts: welding; welding symbols; ability to read and understand welding drawings; quality control; and safety.Effective verbal and written communication skills are requiredMust be able to read, evaluate, and respond to product specifications and drawing, and perform normal math calculations easily.Proficient in various welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, and stick welding processesMust have strong general mechanical skills.Adherence to D1.1 Welding CodeStrong attention to detail and the ability to perform high-quality welding in a fast-paced setting Ability to safely use tools and equipment to test and repair assigned equipment.Capable of working independently or as part of a teamIn-depth knowledge of reading blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbolsPhysical Requirements:Welders will be required to take and pass a welding test consisting of 1/2" plate, open butt 6010 stringer 7018 filler in a vertical position.Must be able to walk and stand throughout an eight-to-twelve-hour day.Must be able to occasionally lift 80 lbs. from a table position to chest high using a proper lifting technique.Must be able to occasionally climb a ladder to reach areas to be welded and/or worked on.Must be able to repetitively use arms, hands, and fingers in the manipulation of parts.Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterityDirect reports:N/AThe successful candidate is responsible for complying with Hitachi Global Air Power US Code of Ethics and related policies.
