Summary: This is a full-time position that is responsible for welding defective and broken parts and structural members of all terminal trucks, trailers, cranes, and associated equipment and machinery. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation. Responsibilities: • Performing routine and preventive maintenance and repair on all electric, diesel, and gasoline powered trucks and equipment using hand tools, power tools, gauges, test meters, hydraulic jacks or hoists, welding and grinding equipment. • Setting up and operating gas torch or arc welding equipment to weld primarily metal components according to work orders, layouts, diagrams, welding procedures, or oral instructions. • Determining set up for work by applying knowledge of metal properties, fabrication requirements, shop mathematics, and welding and cutting techniques, materials, and equipment. • Welding flat, cylindrical, or irregular parts and linear, radial, or circular joints; setting current, voltage, pulse, and slope; synchronizing feed of filler with welding speed; adjusting welding to vary size, location, and penetration of bead. • Performing fifty percent (50%) of welding on aluminum tanks. • Assisting in training shop mechanic and tireman in the operation of welding and grinding equipment; cross-training in their jobs as necessary to keep trucks and trailers in continuous operation. Keeping records of parts, supplies, and chemicals used on each shift and reports to supervisor; requesting order of supplies, equipment, and material as needed. • May be required to lay out, fit, and tack weld work pieces together, including heavy gauge steel. • Watching and listening for malfunctioning equipment and machinery; reporting current problems or anticipated problems; repairing by own discretion. • Rebuilding, replacing, welding, or fabricating broken, worn, or new parts and structures as required; adjusting and testing units after repair and reassembly. • Examining quality of weld; removing surplus slag, flux, and spatter using brush, grinder, hand scraper, power chipper, or chemical bath; applying paint or other finish as appropriate. Qualifications: • One (1) year of previous welding experience; equivalent training in welding equipment and technology may be considered. • Ability to provide own hand tools. • Possession of a valid driver’s license appropriate for the type of equipment to be operated. • English language fluency, verbal and written. • Acceptable results of a pre-employment background check and drug/alcohol test. Job Summary The Welder is a safety sensitive position responsible for performing high quality welding duties for oilfield related construction and maintenance projects under the direction of the Welder Foreman. The position also requires a commitment to understanding and exhibiting Titan’s Mission and Core Values, following safety rules, federal and state laws and regulations as well as representing the company in a professional, courteous manner at all times.
