Welder/Fabricator

POSITION: Welder/Fabricator DAY SHIFT: Monday - Thursday, 6:30 am - 5:00 pm (OT Friday as needed) PAY RATE: $21.00 - 24.00+ per hour (DOE) + Full Benefits Package LOCATION: Huron, SD SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for the safe and efficient fabrication of steel products. The Welder I is an entry-level welding position, with all work being completed with close supervision. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS • Embrace and demonstrate the qualities of the TrueNorth Steel Game Changer definition. • Follow all company safety and quality requirements. • Able to Learn company policies and procedures. • Able to work on basic manufacturing assignments that have set standards. • Able to follow detailed instructions while observed closely by supervisor or lead. • Able to problem solve simple and non-complex issues that need little judgement. • Able to perform measurements within specified tolerances. • Learn to read blueprints. • Ability to work with others. • Ability to work safely and accurately. • Prompt and dependable attendance. • Other duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND QUALITIES • Able to perform simple flat and horizontal welds and flat groove welds. • Able to Fit and weld subassemblies with tack or spot weld. • Able to perform measurements within specified tolerances. • Exhibit knowledge of material identification, equipment utilization and welding equipment set-up and maintenance. • General knowledge of equipment and operations. • Basic understanding of Weld symbols. • Understand and follow oral and written directions. • Ability to read a tape measure (imperial and metric). • Ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions. • Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly. • Ability to be truthful and be seen as credible in the workplace. • Ability to make decisions or take actions to solve a problem or reach a goal. • The trait of being dependable and trustworthy. EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE • High School diploma or GED preferred. • 0-1 years of welding experience preferred. Larson Trailers/ Drive Trailers. is a manufacturing company of Fiber Blowing Trailers and Custom Trailers, is seeking Welders to cut and join metals and other materials at our facility. You will operate appropriate equipment to put together mechanical structures or parts. Your job is important as it provides the foundation for strong infrastructure. A welder must be competent in using potentially dangerous equipment following all safety precautions. The ideal candidate will have a steady hand and great attention to detail. Knowledge of different kinds of metal thicknesses and welding procedures. Responsibilities: • Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures • Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements • Set up components for welding according to specifications • Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded • Align components using tape measure and clamp pieces • Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead) • Repair or manufacture components by welding pieces and filling gaps • Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws • Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety Skills: Proven experience as welder Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures Experience in using electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, clamps, tape measures, and etc.) Ability to read and interpret drawings Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face-shield, gloves etc.) Attention to detail Proficient in English Successful completion of a relevant apprenticeship program, will be a plus but not required Professional Certification (e.g. an AWS welding certificate) will be a plus but not required Job Type: Full-time $18.00 - $29.00 per hour (To be based on Experience) Huron, SD: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Preferred) Experience: Welding: 2 years Work Location: One location
