Description:Jaxon Engineering is looking for an experienced Fabricator / Welder to join our team in Colorado Springs. Jaxon is the leading full-service provider of High-altitude Electromagnetic Pulse (HEMP) services worldwide, delivering world-class engineering, testing, construction, and sustainment services. Specifically able to perform AWS D1.1, AWS D1.6, AWS D1.3, AWS D9.1 qualified welds Requirements: • 3-10 years’ job experience in welding and fabrication (does NOT include school experience) • Able to perform AWS D1.1, AWS D1.3, AWS D1.6, AWS D9.1 qualified welds • HEMP welding experience, highly desired • Self-motivated; well organized; and curious to learn all facets of the job • demonstrated problem-solving ability • Excellent communication skills and an excellent team member • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, work independently, investigate & troubleshoot issues • Good math skills and strong skills reading blueprints • Strong skills recognizing/understanding a wide variety of welding & fabrication techniques • Able to use grinders, chop saws, drills, plasma cutters and both scissor-lift & variable-reach forklifts • Able to bend over, kneel and crouch for long periods of time, & able to lift at least 50 lbs. Note: This position is under the operating Engineers union. Applicant will be required to join IUOE Local 9 Position Summary This position involves operating welding and fabrication on mobile equipment, and safely repairing and maintaining mobile equipment and mechanical equipment such as tractor trailers, tandem dump trucks, brooms and associated paving equipment etc. However, there will be times this position will work as a light mechanic on heavy equipment and trucks. Responsibilities • Ensures a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task. • Operates welding equipment and power tools of all types. (MIG, TIG, Air Arc, Oxyacetylene, small Milling machine) • Help with all manners of shop and maintenance tasks and daily write ups. • Performs maintenance and utility work. Knowledge, and Skills and Abilities • Must be safety-oriented and exhibit safe work habits. • Self-motivated and eager to learn new skills. • Perform well in a “TEAM” environment. • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency. • Willing to work hours that are associated with the asphalt industry, including overtime and weekends as needed. • Ability to follow verbal and written instruction. • Basic mathematical skills • A valid driver’s license is required. • Pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen. Minimum Education and Experience • 3 years of experience in welding or construction preferred. • High School Diploma or equivalent required Physical Requirements and Conditions • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noise. • Ability to lift 75 pounds. • Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials. We are excited to share the base hourly rate for this position is $35.44+. Membership with the International Union of Operating Engineers Local Union No, 9 is required upon hire. Condition and terms of employment and benefits are in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.
