Adjunct Welding/Manufacturing Instructor for Lake County Campus

Location: Lake County Campus - Clear Lake, CA Job Description:BASIC FUNCTION: Serve as the lead instructor for the Manufacturing curriculum, including maintenance of Machine Shop laboratory and appropriate technology; Order, maintain, and ensure the proper use of equipment in the manufacturing lab Organize and teach all levels of community college manufacturing courses, which currently include manual and CNC machining equipment, software and computers and welding/ fabrication Instruction and classroom management of certificate and degree level courses in manufacturing. Identification and development of course curriculum, including project based learning and other methods of instruction to foster student success Organize and teach specialized courses in welding/manufacturing according to one's background and expertise Facilitate student learning by working to develop every student's abilities and by designing varied and motivating learning environments Prepare complete course syllabi and outlines, recruit students, and work with articulation agreements with local colleges and schools Create course schedules and class rotations. Providing student advisement for program participants. Maintaining student records. Maintaining program equipment and safe work environments. Have an understanding of equipment and tooling required to instruct students to develop skills necessary to gain employment in manufacturing Develop and maintain a relevant community college manufacturing curriculum, including appropriate transfer/articulation agreements with four-year colleges and universities; Work with staff in the welding, automotive, and other related departments, as well as other academic programs at the college Work with other non-academic departments at Yuba College Establishing and fostering mutually beneficial relationships with business and industry. Maintain an active advisory committee with local businesses to ensure an up-to-date curriculum and assist students with job placement upon graduation Facilitate student learning by using appropriate teaching methods; Develop and maintain relevant curriculum for the manufacturing program Teach day, evening, and/or weekend teaching assignments, which may include distance learning, (interactive television, online) and accelerated courses; Participate in department, division, and college-wide initiatives and committees; and Be committed to, and participate in, the share-governance process Be able to perform the tasks required in a manufacturing shop such as; lifting, bending, standing and other tasks associated with the position Essential Duties Summary: Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students. Required Qualifications:EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: The successful candidate, by the final filing date, must possess the minimum qualifications for instructors in Welding at California Community Colleges: (All degrees and units used to satisfy minimum qualifications must be from accredited institutions.)
