Job Profile The company is looking for a Machinist to join its team. Education Level • Not mentioned, yet a High School Diploma will be a plus Work Experience • Previous experience working on diesel or heavy construction equipment (preferred) • Previous welding experience, especially in the industrial or construction industry (preferred) Duties/Responsibilities • Control Machines and Processes – Use welding equipment to weld, layout, fit, and fabricate metal components to assemble structural forms, such as machinery frames, walkways, and pressure vessels at production facilities using knowledge of welding techniques. • Diagnose and Inspect – Identify problems and perform welding repair and maintenance to stationary production-related equipment, machinery, and structures such as conveyors, crushers, elevators, drives, and screws at aggregate, ready-mix, and asphalt plants. • Document and Record Information – Ensure correct and accurate documentation is completed on a daily and monthly basis regarding all mobile equipment. Enter and maintain service reports for all mobile equipment in written or electronic form. • Handle Power Tools and Equipment – Handle a variety of hand and power tools, including but not limited to a cutting torch and welding equipment to rebuild and fabricate parts. • Perform General Physical Activities – Perform physical activities that require moving your whole body and considerable use of your arms and legs, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials. • Promote Safety – Take an active role in prioritizing safety throughout the operation for yourself and others at all times in accordance with MSHA and Vulcan standards. • Repair and Maintain Mobile Equipment – Service, repair, adjust, and test all mobile equipment that operates throughout the plant in order to maximize performance and limit downtime. • Other duties as assigned. Skills/Knowledge/Abilities • Flexibility – Must be willing to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands. Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises. • Knowledge of Best Practices – Must demonstrate knowledge of best practices related to using electric, gas, arc, or other welding equipment. General knowledge of the occupational hazards involved in welding is preferred. Knowledge of general principles and practices of servicing heavy construction equipment is preferred. • Mechanical Skills – Must have some knowledge of industrial tools, their uses, and maintenance.
