Structural Welder

JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Structural welder (Dual shield) Basic Job Description: Welder duties and responsibilities include reading drawings, cutting materials, and welding. This position does require some travel to assist with installs and in-field welding to secure final connections. Essential Functions • Actively choose to be a team player and look for opportunities to jump in and help where needed • Ensure thorough completion of all tasks you are involved in • Set up components for welding according to specifications utilizing jigs/fixtures. • Operate angle grinders to prepare parts that must be welded/maintain accurate fit up • Align components using tape measures/squares, utilize “peg” table to secure weldments and assemblies • Layout appropriate fit up for proper joint configurations as adhered to shop tolerances. • Participate in active feedback loop • Read/comprehend blueprints, bill of materials, customer specifications, weld procedures to plan layout, fit-up fabricated components. • Develop templates and models for welding projects. • Maintain and complete all required records and production documents accurately and neatly. • Interface with Quality Management Team to ensure all company and client procedures and scope of work is adhered to. • Maintain a clean and safe working area & support a philosophy of zero accidents by following all applicable safety procedures and maintaining equipment to operate in the safest way possible. • Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety keeping your station clean and tidy (Absolutely no cords stretched across shop) Basic Qualifications (required) • Active and valid drivers license • High school diploma or equivalency certificate • 2+ years of experience with FCAW-G working in a manufacturing/fabrication environment, using various measurement and verification tools (laser level, calipers, plumb line, level, etc.) to dimension and build piping weldments based on detailed drawings • Experience with hand/power tools, materials, and practices of the welding trade • Ability to pass a 3G Dual shield test with a backing Bar. Preferred skills and experience • 4+ years of experience with FCAW-G welding • Basic understanding structural welding/familiar with all positions • Knowledge of welding techniques, metallurgy, AWS/ASME codes, and engineering requirements • Experience with hand/power tools, materials, and practices of the welding trade • Knowledge in ferrous and non-ferrous metals in relation to welding and brazing • Knowledge in occupational hazards and effective safety precautions of the trade • Ability to rapidly change roles and responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment • Ability to rapidly change roles and responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment Physical & Other Requirements • Speak and understand English • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings • Knowledge of relative safety standards • Experience welding mild steel/stainless, certification preferred • Familiar with forklift/equipment safety Other Duties This job description covers most activities, duties or responsibilities. Mig Welder

First Shift Position: 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday Pay rate: $11.00 per hour Welder responsibilities: • Mig Welding of galvanized steel • Analyzes requirements, plans layout and fabrication details. • Uses template, pattern, scribe, etc. to mark and lay out material. • Aligns and assembles structures for welding using crane, cum-a-long, chains, etc. • Uses cutting torch to burn to precision layout. • Applies tack weld to hold assembled parts in alignment. • Peens and sledges fitting to obtain fit up for welding. • Welds seams completely by electric arc or gas welding procedures. • Uses wire brush to remove slag and weld spatter from fitting. • Ability to work with precision instruments. • Good attention to detail and organizational skills. Welder requirements: • High school diploma or GED. • Must be 18 years of age or older. • 6 months of welding experience; non-union environment. • Consent to a background check and drug screen.
