Summary: Review and plan layout, install and/or demo, test and repair all types of piping systems in accordance with applicable plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards. Essential Functions: • Coordinate with job site manager to configure piping system layout(s) • Develop a complete understanding of the contract plans and specifications as well as C.A.D. documents and be able to plan, lay-out, install and/or repair all types of piping system application • Utilizes all industry standard(s) for pipe fitting techniques and methods for different types of piping systems and pipe connections including butt weld, socket weld, threaded, grooved, flanged, compression, glued and fused joints • Understand and implement lockout/tag-out procedures for safe and secure task(s) • Read and understand orthographic and isometric drawings and visualize two-dimensional drawings in three dimensions • Prepare all material surfaces to be welded, ensuring that there is no loose or thick scale, slag, rust, moisture, grease, or other foreign matter • Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions. Check grooves, angles, or gap allowances, using micrometers, calipers, and precision measuring instruments • Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind or bolt component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding. Connect and turn regulator valves to activate and adjust gas flow and pressure so that desired flames are obtained • Monitor the fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of material • Develop templates and models for welding projects, using mathematical calculations based on blueprint information Essential Competencies: • Communication Skills • Ability to comprehend documents to include but not limited to, safety rules and regulations, installation & maintenance instruction and procedure manuals, ability to write daily reports and correspondence. The ability to understand information, ideas, direction and be able to perform the task or assigned project and to be able to ask questions to insure you understand the information given • Must have a working knowledge of pipefitting techniques and methods • Must be able to work with carbon steel, stainless steel, PVC, poly/HDPE, copper, and various high pressure/temperature alloys • Must be proficient in the use of bevellers, threaders, groovers and other end prep machines. • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers and fractions rapidly and accurately • This position may require knowledge and experience in multiple Piping system applications to include but not limited to following: Heating water, Chilled Water, Condenser water, Lab & Medical gasses, Refrigeration applications, Fuel & Oil applications and High & Low-pressure Steam applications • This position may require knowledge and experience in multiple Piping material applications to include but not limited to the following: Steel/carbon pipe, Copper Pipe, PVC/PCV pipe, Poly Pipe applications, Stainless Steel pipe and Aluminum pipe Education and Experience: • High School Diploma (or GED, High School Equivalence Certificate) • Minimum 4 years Pipefitting experience • Steamfitters license a plus but not required • 6-G Stick, 6-G Wire and 6-G TIG required or ability to test immediately Pay/Benefits: Range: $35.00/hr. - $48.00/hr.
