Take an active role in prioritizing safety for yourself and others throughout the operation at all times in accordance with MSHA and Vulcan standards. Inspect and Diagnose. Inspect and diagnose repair and maintenance of mobile and plant equipment. Plan Jobs. Plan, organize, weld, fit, and layout construction and repair jobs from blueprints. Fabricate structural components according to company standards. Fitting and welding according to blueprints. Welding. Stick and Dual Shield Welding. Weld materials in flat, vertical, and overhead positions. Cut materials using air arcs, burning rods, and acetylene/oxygen cutting torches to fit fabrication and job requirements. Perform welding repair and maintenance to stational production-related equipment, machinery, and structures such as conveyors, crushers, elevators, drives, and screws. Perform General Physical Activities. Preferred Qualifications • Prior experience with bridge work. • Experience in overhead crane operation. • The candidate will need to pass a visual inspection done by one of our inspectors or SMC management of a ¼ inch fillet weld before moving on to the actual qualification test. The criterion for this inspection is as follows: the weld shall be free of any undercut, overlap, porosity and shall be consistent in size. The reason for this is that it cuts down wasting actual test plates and helps distinguish whether the candidate possesses the required skillset to pass the test.
