Job Summary A welder is responsible for the layout of metal parts and joining them using high quality, durable welds that meet industry standards and customer specifications. Job Requirements 1. Read and interpret blueprints including welding specifications. 2. Preparing metal parts for welding to include cutting, grinding and cleaning. 3. Setting up, operating and maintaining welding equipment. 4. Inspecting welds for quality, identifying flaws and making corrections as needed. 5. Checking part dimensions against the prints to verify parts are correctly joined. 6. Clean up parts (remove dross/scale) using bench grinders & sanders. 7. Complete traveler with initials, date completed and quantity completed. Claiming the time worked on the job and quantity completed in the data collection system. 8. Verifying counts before movement to next operation. 9. Operating a forklift and cranes. 10. Following safety protocols, wearing appropriate PPE and ensuring a safe work environment. Requirements 1. Strong attention to detail. 2. Manual Dexterity – a steady hand and strong hand-eye coordination are essential for precise welding 3. Weld Certification Physical Requirements 1. Some jobs may require the operator to stand and/or stay bent over for extended periods of time. 2. Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. If a part weighs more than 30 lbs. cranes and/or boons are used to move. 3. Ability to work in a extreme hot/cold and noisy environment. Temperatures in the summer can be in the 90’s.
