Nature of Work Under general supervision, this individual performs skilled plumbing work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of water and waste disposal systems, equipment, and fixtures. Work involves performing a variety of repair or replacement functions related to plumbing, minor electrical work related to hot water heaters, disposals, and dishwashers. Work also involves reviewing district facilities to maintain system adherence to all related codes and regulations. Work is performed in accordance with accepted practices, and the employee is expected to resolve most problems independently. The employee must exercise strong customer service, independent judgment, and initiative in performing assigned duties. Duties and Responsibilities • Repairs and replaces broken water lines; unstops sewer lines and drains; and clears commode and sink drains • Performs maintenance and installation functions associated with all water systems equipment • Replaces and repairs hot water tanks; repairs garbage disposals; repairs circulating pumps; and replaces booster heaters • Repairs shower valves, shutoff valves, fountain coolers, and mixing valves • Repairs and rebuilds Delaney and Sloan valves • Ensures the safe and efficient operation of fixtures, apparatus, and other elements of water distribution • Provides necessary reports as required by the State • Responsible for ensuring that outside utilities are located before digging or trenching is performed at sites within Roanoke Rapids Graded School District • Performs quality control reviews to ensure the work is completed in accordance with defined standard procedures Additional Job Responsibilities • Performs other duties and responsibilities as general maintenance and/or plumber as assigned • Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a safe driving record

Required Credentials Prior to Teaching: • OSHA 10-Hour Safety – Construction Certification (10 hour online course) Additional Credential Requirements for Continuing Employment: • NCCER Instructor Certified Training Program (ICTP) for Craft Professionals Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Teach students fundamental and advanced skills in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, masonry or HVAC. • Provides learning experiences and teaches the course of study prescribed by the District and State approved curriculum. • Implement engaging lesson plans aligned with North Carolina state curriculum and industry standards. • Provide hands-on training in safety procedures, tool usage, and job site management. • Prepare students for industry-recognized certifications and entry-level career opportunities. • Maintain a safe and organized learning environment, including classroom and workshop settings. • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to improve skill development. • Stay current with industry trends and professional development opportunities. • Ability to manage instructional time. • Develops and uses instructional materials suitable for verbal and/or visual instruction of students with a wide range of mental, physical, and emotional maturity. • Ability to consult with parents, teachers, and the community to enhance the learning of students. • Ability to interact within the educational environment. • Ability to perform non-instructional duties as assigned. • Must be able to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
