Requirements: Must be able to bend, push, pull, lift at least 50lbs. Must have current valid drivers license with a clean driving record, must be able to operate power tools. Reports to: Plumbing Crew Leader Job Goal: An employee in this class is responsible for the maintenance, repair and installation of water and waste disposal systems, Assignments are generally routine and detailed instructions are given with assignments. Problems are referred to the supervisor. Errors are quickly revealed and performance may be checked upon completion of assignments. The employee receives direct supervision. Illustrative examples of work: • Measures, cuts, threads, assembles and installs pipes and tubing under supervision. • Checks plumbing systems to detect leaks. • Unstops commodes, drains, sewer lines and cleans grease traps. • Installs water and sanitary fixtures under supervision. • Makes repairs to water and waste disposal systems. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities • Basic knowledge of the techniques, methods and tools of the plumbing trade. • Some skill in the performance of the duties related to the plumbing trade. • Ability to use power tools associated with the plumbing trade. • Ability to follow oral and written instructions. • Physical strength sufficient to work at heavy manual labor for considerable periods of time. Terms of Employment: 12-month work year/At Will Employee/FLSA Non-Exempt Starting Salary and/ of Grade: $34,885.80-50197.80/ Grade 61/ Plus Longevity Evaluation: Performace of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board and local policy on evaluation of personnel.

Maintenance/Construction Technician III (Plumbing)

About the position The primary purpose of this position is to provide journey level work in the plumbing trade and at near journey level work in either HVAC or electrical work as necessary in maintaining a safe and comfortable environment for the serviced residents and staff. This is accomplished through the water management systems, repair, maintenance, up-grade, and new construction of the plumbing, mechanical systems, and equipment at the Center, while maintaining a customer friendly demeanor. This position is designated Mandatory and must report or stay over during adverse weather events. Responsibilities • Provide journey level work in plumbing and near journey level work in HVAC or electrical work. , • Maintain water management systems and perform repairs and maintenance on plumbing and mechanical systems. , • Upgrade and construct new plumbing and mechanical systems and equipment at the Center. , • Maintain a customer-friendly demeanor while performing duties. Requirements • High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma. , • Two (2) years of progressive experience in the assigned trade areas or an equivalent combination of education and experience. , • Working knowledge of methods, practices, tools, and materials used in general maintenance and repair of buildings, equipment, and machinery including plumbing, electrical, and hydronic systems. , • Knowledge of low-pressure heating plant operations. , • Ability to diagnose electrical components on water heaters with voltage up to 480 volts and other electrical components. , • Ability to understand and work from sketches or penciled drawings. , • Ability to operate common types of machine shop equipment. , • Ability to supervise the work of semiskilled, unskilled, or skilled workers. , • Must have a current valid Driver's License.
