Hiring Department Campus Construction Job Description Summary: Perform skilled work involving the installation, maintenance and repair of masonry structure and road surfaces. Key Responsibilities: • Construct, maintain and repair structures using masonry materials. Plan layout, mix bonding material, shape and lay stone, brick, tile and other masonry material using appropriate bonding agents. • Repair and finish joints between stones or bricks of masonry structure. Plan layout, remove existing bonding material, mix and apply fresh bonding agent. • Set forms, embed necessary reinforcing materials, pour and finish concrete, asphalt or other surfaces to specified textures. • Break up existing masonry structure using power and hand tools. • Install tile on floors and other areas following design specifications. Prepare surface for tiling by cleaning, filling holes with appropriate material and spreading adhesive base. • Set up and dismantle scaffolding and staging, install drain tiles, waterproofs underground masonry surfaces, apply sealants, cut openings and utility access holes in masonry surface as required. • Perform other duties as assigned. Shift 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM Monday - Friday Minimum Qualifications • A high school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is necessary. • Experience sufficient to qualify as a journey level, with a minimum of four years of actual work in the trade, including apprentice or vocational training. • A valid driver’s license may be required. • Ability on a daily basis to grasp, lift, carry and set down heavy (50-75 lbs.), climb and work from ladders, scaffolding and staging. Preferred Qualifications A valid Missouri driver’s license is required.
