Construction Technician Trainee

Performs responsible skilled work in the installation, construction and repair of sewer and water projects; occasionally operates non-specialized equipment in connection with manual tasks; does related work as assigned. Work is performed under immediate supervision of the construction supervisor. • Maintains, construction and repair collection and distribution system and maintains construction complex at the well field: • Performs a variety of skilled tasks in the construction and repairing of collection and distribution system and related equipment. • Load and unload gravel, dirt, timber, chemicals and other materials, tools and equipment as assigned; • Builds forms and assists with laying cement; • Digs shallow trenches, ditches and sewer lines; • Assists with repairs and construction on manholes and meter vaults; • Assists with removal, installation, and repair water meters; • Assists with installation and repair of water and sewer lines; • Cut grass, sprays weeds, trims shrubs and bushes at the well field construction complex; • Picks up paper and debris on public property and streets; • Performs other utility systems duties as assigned; • Responds to emergency calls after hours weekends and holidays; • Runs errands and picks up parts; • Flags traffic for work in or near roadways; • Performs all work in a safe manner; • Performs related tasks as required. Limited Knowledge in the safe use and operation of the equipment to which assigned; ability to understand and follow specific oral or written instructions; ability to perform manual labor for extended periods, often under unfavorable weather conditions; ability to lift heavy articles; good physical condition. Graduation from high school or GED equivalent. Some experience in the operation of automotive and mechanical equipment desirable. Possession of an appropriate driver’s license valid in the State of North Carolina.

RK&K is hiring experienced Construction Inspectors to join our Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) team rebuilding the Lindsay C. Warren Bridge over Alligator River. As a Construction Inspector with RK&K you will perform complex and routine inspections on materials, processes, safety, and documentation to ensure construction contractors conform to plans, specifications, and special provisions.
