Experienced Construction Worker

Crew Leaders participate in various building and construction projects using an array of equipment, tools, and processes while helping promote a safe and productive jobsite. Summary of Duties: • Prepare construction site each day by preparing materials, tools, and equipment. • Perform building and construction work which includes, but is not limited to concrete walls, foundations, and slabs; structural steel and metal erection; interior and exterior process pipe installation; and general carpentry and finishes. • Proficiently operates a variety of hand and power tools, forklifts, skid loaders, and other tools and equipment as directed. • Load and unload supplies and equipment, ensuring that tools and equipment are cleaned and maintained. • Shovel materials to and from the job site such as dirt, asphalt, etc. • Site cleanup duties. • Conduct job site safety walk-throughs. • Follows all health and safety regulations when performing work and as otherwise instructed. • Train others on experienced tasks and learn tasks as needed or instructed. • Actively participate in work planning and the continuous improvement process. • Follow all company work and safety policies and procedures. • Coordinate work, occasionally scheduling subcontractors onsite. • Additional duties as assigned. Working Hours: Generally, expect to work 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday, from 7:00AM – 4:00PM. Occasional overtime may be required. Qualifications: • Minimum of 2 years of experience in construction performing duties in concrete, steel, and carpentry. • Active driver's license with reliable means of getting to and from the jobsite. • Ability to travel out of town, and over-night as needed. • Minimum Tool Requirement: 16oz or larger hammer, crescent adjustable wrench, screwdriver (6-1 type), tape measure, speed square, retractable utility knife, chalk box, lineman or rebar pliers. Travel: Some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected; job sites are located throughout central Iowa and across the state. Job duties are often performed in close proximity to other people. Employees often work in outdoor conditions that include inclement weather such as heat, humidity, cold, wind, and dust. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly, stand for long periods of time, walk for moderate-to-long distances on varying surface conditions, climb, crawl, crouch, reach, grip, push, and pull without issue. Important Qualities Math skills. Laborers need to perform basic math calculations to do their job. They often help with measuring on job-sites or they may be part of a surveying crew. Mechanical skills. Laborers frequently are required to operate and maintain equipment, such as jackhammers. Physical stamina. Laborers must have endurance to perform strenuous tasks throughout the day. Highway laborers, for example, spend hours on their feet—often in hot temperatures—with few breaks. Physical strength.
