Responsibilities and Expectations: We are looking for an experienced Manual Machinist to join our team. As a Machinist for HECO you will identify problems and make necessary adjustments as they relate to industrial AC/DC electric motors and generators. You will use a variety of manual machine tools and balancing equipment for rotating machinery, while following service center safety procedures. You will need to have excellent attention to detail and an ability to work from drawings, sketches, and blueprints. • Operate manual machining tools to include engine lathes, horizontal lathes, milling machines, grinders, drilling machines, and related equipment • Safely use overhead, gantry cranes, and left trucks, and associate lift rigging • Perform mechanical measurements using portable mechanical instruments such as dial indicators, micrometers, and portable vibration measurement equipment Qualifications and Competencies: • 3 or more years of experience as a machinist for electric motor repair preferred • Ability to read micrometer measuring equipment • Ability to operate manual lathes of various size and dimensions • Ability to operate electro-plating equipment • Ability to perform basic math functions • Ability to understand, perform and retain various job-related training, operational, and safety procedures • Ability to work overtime and weekends as required Experience: • Micrometer: 2 years (Required) • manual lathe: 2 years (Required) • electroplating equipment: 2 years (Required) • electric motor repair: 3 years (Preferred) Physical Requirements: • Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, and bend for prolonged periods of time • Ability to lift, push, pull, carry items up to 50 lbs. Qualifications • Must be at least 18 years of age. • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. • Criminal Background Check & Compliant to FAA Drug and Alcohol screening checks are mandatory. • Ability to operate a variety of precision measuring instruments, including calipers, ID and OD micrometers, depth gages, indicators, and scales. • Minimum of two years of experience working on the set-up of 5-axis machines, such as Hass or Fanuc preferred. • Working knowledge of tool holders, cutting tools, fixtures, inserts, and other accessories used to operate various machines. • Ability to read and interpret company documents, such as blueprints, safety rules, operating/manufacturing instructions, policies, and procedures. • Good manual dexterity required to work with small parts. • Capable of recognizing and solving typical problems that can occur in own work area; evaluates and selects solutions from established options. • Effective oral, written, and interpersonal skills. • Ability to take initiative and prioritize tasks; good time management, problem-prevention, and problem-solving skills. • Able to work with cross-functional teams. • Able to identify areas of low efficiency and work to provide improvements. • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. • Must be able to stand/walk for long periods of time • Must be able to work as scheduled and arrive to the worksite promptly to receive work assignment. • Must be available to work overtime and weekends as business requires.
