Manual Machinist

Job description: Program and Operate – Manual Lathe, Manual Mill and other shop equipment in multitask environment. Responsible for setups according to prints and operations. This includes documentation of all operations and procedures in accordance to QC&A program. Materials being machined are primarily 15-5 Stainless Steel. Must be proficient using mathematical formulas for feeds, speeds and trig. Also, be proficient in using all shop measuring instruments including calipers and micrometers, Manufacturing and production consist of new designs, refurbishments, and repairs. Applicants will be required to take a machinist test in order to assess your skill set. Must be able to read and comprehend documents, instructions, manuals, and complete forms in English, Other duties as assigned by Supervisor About GEMCO: GEMCO is a small productive, stable 75 year old company. Our customers are major household names and we have our parts in 22 countries. Protected environment with BA overhead fans and several large overhead doors. This could at times include oil field parts; we are a Die Plate Manufacturing production shop. Competitive Wages: $25/hr-$35/hr depending on experience and capabilities. Job Description As a Machine Operator, you will be responsible for operating various machines such as drill lines, anglematic, brake presses, auerosheers, burn tables, duplicators, paranas, and transfer tables. You must read and interpret blueprints and diagrams to carefully set up, select, position, secure, and operate production machinery under established procedures and guidelines. The Machine Operator will accurately and timely adjust machine settings to complete tasks according to specifications. Minimum Starting Salary: $21.00 to $26.00 per hour - depending on experience. Full-time Alamo employees will receive a $1.00/hr shift differential pay. Positions Available: Night Shift Python Operator & a Day Shift Loader/Combilift Operator Hours: Monday - Thursday 4:30pm to 3:00am Essential Functions: • Rigorously inspect materials before, during, and after processing to ensure quality control of the finished product • Read and interpret written instructions from manufacturing work orders and cut-sheets • Ensure machines are operating properly and safely • Provides basic maintenance to the machine(s) to properly operate • Prepare materials to be processed and mounted coil in the hub • Operate hoists and check periodically to plan preventative maintenance assigned to the truck production functions • Runs full diagnosis and treatment of faults and/or situations that affect the functioning of the designated machine • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. • Comply with Company and OHSA policies • Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: • Knowledge and ability to distinguish different types of materials. • Knowledge of metal and basic shop fabrication equipment. • Ability to read and understand blueprints, diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, manufacturer's instructions, engineering specifications, and troubleshooting malfunctions. • Ability to operate forklift, overhead crane, and tractor-trailer • Ability to withstand pressure and adapt to changes • Ability to multi-task while meeting strict deadlines Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: • High School Diploma or GED equivalent • Six months experience operating various types of production machinery Physical Requirements: • Frequent prolonged standing, be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue. • Frequently moves materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. • Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual agility, coordination, and stamina.
