This position is responsible for repairing and rebuilding the parts of various electrically powered rotating apparatus, including motors, pumps, and generators. Minimum Required Experience · 2 or more years of experience using machine tools, equipment and measuring devices to repair precision parts and components such as shafts. · Worked with a variety of machines, including lathes, milling machines, and grinders, to cut, shape, and finish materials according to specifications. · Proficient in using and reading micrometers, calipers, and tape measures. Preferred Experience: • 3-5 years’ experience in Industrial electric motor and/or pump repair • Familiar with AC, motors and pumps. • Forklift and overhead cranes Responsibilities · Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders. · Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and vernier calipers. · Measure, examine, and test completed units to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments such as micrometers. · Set up, adjust, and operate all the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools to perform precision machining operations. · Select the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation of machinery work. · Balance mechanical assemblies using dynamic balancing equipment. · Perform various metalizing (metal spraying) techniques as needed. · Perform various welding operations. including setup and use of MIG, TIG, torch and stick welders. · Use various hand-held and stationary power and non-power tools, including but not limited to: band saws, belt sanders, hand grinders, files, etc. Physical Abilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to: · Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; talk and hear · Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms · Occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl · Clearly see 20+ feet, with or without corrective lenses.
