Their role will include, but is not limited to the following: • Perform work and ensure it is completed safely and correctly. • Complete PM's and other job assignments. • Coach and train others as needed. • Utilize the CMMS system and ensure predictive maintenance. • Work on reliability, machine work, lathe, milling machine, dismantling, repairs, and installations. • Collaborate with contractors, management, safety team, and others as needed. • Answer radio calls and repair machine parts as needed. • Repair and maintain plant machinery. • Design and build new equipment and parts. • Order parts and manage inventory. • Operate and maintain machine tools, such as lathes, grinders, and milling machines. • Maintain a clean and organized work area. • Perform physical activities including walking, standing, twisting, bending, kneeling, stooping, and squatting. • Ascend and descend stairs/ladders. • Abide by all safety/environmental policies and procedures. • Perform other duties as assigned. • Review and create drawings. • Use precise measurements for cutting/shaping tasks using appropriate machine settings.Requirements MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education / Experience / Certification • 2 or more years of experience as a machinist. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Strong communication skills. • Ability to weld and fabricate steel. • Strong mechanical aptitude. • Ability to relate and positively interact with team members. • Ability to identify root cause of problems and effectively initiate corrective action. • Ability to think critically and take proper action. • Detail oriented with a focus on work accuracy. • Ability to work within precise limits or standards of accuracy. • Must be a safety-minded individual. • Lifting and physical activity is required. • Ability to read blueprints and technical specifications. PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS The physical demands and work environment are representative of a typical sawmill environment. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. Noise level is moderate to high depending on the area of the mill. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear.
