Air Conditioning Specialist

Air Conditioning Specialist Job Description The Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Department at the University of Tennessee at Martin is currently accepting applications for an Air Conditioning Specialist. The normal work schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. 4:00 p.m. Shift is subject to include nights or weekends based on the business need. Call backs required after hours 24/7 as needed. This is a full-time position with benefits. Responsibilities • Complete HVACR related work orders or other duties as assigned • Perform preventive maintenance on HVACR equipment • Monitor and log equipment operations and deficiencies • Visually verify safe, efficient and operation of equipment • Major mechanical industrial repair service to include pulling, rebuilding, or overhauling motors, pumps, and AC refrigeration systems • Performing electrical work on motors with low to high range voltage (10VDC to 480VAC) single phase and 3 phase power supply • Pipe fitter tasks include old systems modifications and new installations with use of various types of pipes and fittings • Pipe fitter techniques will require soldering, flared, threaded, compression, etc. • Pipe applications may include, but are not limited to, refrigeration and air conditioning, heating/cooling water pipes, steam, air handling units, hydronic pumps and controls. • Remove and dispose of asbestos as required • Obtain the supplies needed to complete the job by ordering through the warehouse or vendors • Finalize daily paperwork at the end of each shift • Complete other duties assigned as required for department operations and support Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: • Typically requires a high school diploma and two years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Preferred Qualifications: • Vocational or technical training certification/diploma in area of Refrigeration Air Conditioning and Heating HVACR. Other HVAC-R type training and diplomas or related OJT work experience in HVAC-R Air Conditioning or Refrigeration will be considered. • Refrigeration Handling Certification • Experience working on water distribution systems and pumps, as well as chillers and related equipment • Comprehension of PC computers, mechanical equipment, air conditioning, and heating systems. • Experience working in HVAC and DDC controls systems Application Process: Qualified applicants must apply online and resume. Steam Plant Specialist II, HVAC Department

Description The Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning Department at The University of Tennessee at Martin is accepting applications for a Steam Plant Specialist II position. This is a regular, full-time position with benefits. Job Duties: • Required to work a rotating shift during the operation of the steam plant during heating season (mid-October through mid-April). This work includes monitoring and adjusting of control pumps, fans, dampers, motors and compressors to maintain the proper steam pressure and firing conditions in buildings. Reads and records gauges and meters periodically to assure proper functioning of the boilers, records reading and other data on log sheets. • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on auxiliary Steam Plant equipment including de-aerator, condensate return system, boiler water make-up system, chemical treatment, and water softeners. Change air filters and perform preventative maintenance on all types of heating/cooling equipment (campus wide). • Install and modify equipment to include: 1. Metal fabrication; (design, cutting bending, brazing, and welding) 2. Electrical work including running conduit and minor electrical wiring; 3. Minor plumbing repairs; 4. Pipe fitting (cutting, threading, design, and construction of piping systems). • Work in confined spaces as per OSHA standards. • Perform work that will require some heavy lifting. • Work from heights up to 50 feet. Proper protection will be provided. • Required to attend training, possible out of state, also may include asbestos training. • Must be available for callbacks and able to work overtime as required. • Performs other related duties as required.
