HVAC/R Service Technician

Mechanical Systems and Service (MSS) is a Crete United company in West Monroe, LA. MSS is a specialty contractor in heating ventilating and air conditioning. It is a great time to join us as we continue to expand throughout the state and beyond. Our team is looking to hire a Commercial HVAC technician to troubleshoot, maintain and repair HVAC systems. Technician must have 5 years of HVAC Technician Service experience as well as an EPA certification. The position is full-time and offers many great benefits and room for growth within the organization. This position will cover Shreveport and the surrounding counties! What You'll Do: • Perform routine repairs to pump seals, bearing, etc. • Inspect and test systems to verify system compliance with plans and specifications or to detect and locate malfunctions. • Determine customer concerns with HVAC and boiler systems. • Follow standards, policies, and procedures, including safety procedures and the maintenance of a clean work area. • Record and report faults, deficiencies, and other unusual occurrences, as well as the time and materials expended on work orders. • Adjust system controls to setting recommended by manufacturer to balance system. • Recommend, develop, or perform maintenance procedures such as cleaning, power-washing, or vacuuming equipment, lubricate parts, or changing filters. • Install auxiliary components to heating-cooling equipment, such as expansion and discharge valves, air ducts, pipes, blowers, dampers, flues, and stokers, following blueprints • Study blueprints, design specifications, and manufacturers' recommendations to ascertain the configuration of heating or cooling equipment components and to ensure the proper installation of components • Fabricate, assemble, or install duct work or chassis parts, using portable metal-working tools or welding equipment • Other duties as assigned Position Requirements: • 5+ years of commercial HVAC maintenance experience • Universally EPA Certified • Ability to troubleshoot HVAC components with built up systems and package units, which may include chiller air handler pump towers, cooling towers, control systems, boilers and air handling systems • Ability to learn commercial expertise in boilers, chillers, pneumatic controls, digital controls and packaged HVAC equipment • Ability to read electronic schematics • High School diploma/GED required + equivalent work experience Benefits: • Competitive salaries • Medical • Dental • Vision • 401(k) plan • Paid Time Off • Career advancement opportunities • Training and Development Build the future with MSS! Description: The purpose of this job description is to communicate the responsibilities and duties associated with the position of SERVICE TECHNICIAN. JOB BRIEF: The SERVICE TECHNICIAN is to assist the maintenance supervisor in maintaining the physical integrity of the community. This involves insuring a safe, secure, and comfortable living environment for residents, visitors and staff. The SERVICE TECHNICIAN will carry out assigned duties in a safe manner and other duties as requested by the maintenance supervisor. In the absence of the maintenance supervisor, the SERVICE TECHNICIAN will assume all maintenance responsibilities. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Conduct all business in accordance with company policies and procedures, state and federal laws; e.g., OSHA, ADA, Fair Housing, etc. PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE/SAFETY • Must be knowledgeable of pertinent laws and EPA and OSHA regulations governing proper storage and management of hazardous materials, including solvents, flammables, caustics and freon. • Constantly be aware of the condition of apartment property throughout the community and immediately initiates action to correct unsafe conditions; e.g., broken gates leading to the pool, broken steps, open holes, broken/burned out exterior lights. • Schedules and performs routine preventive maintenance on all appropriate equipment as directed by senior maintenance technician and manager. Inspects and maintains all tools in excellent condition. • Be aware of all utility meter cut-offs, apartment and fixture cut-offs, sewer cleanouts. • Performs work area clean-up and safety related duties. • Ensures that storage areas remain locked when not in use. GENERAL • Diagnoses and performs minor and routine maintenance/repair, as directed, involving the following on a daily basis: • Electrical and plumbing (including water lines). • A/C and heating systems. • Appliances (when applicable). • Water irrigation systems. • Stairs, gates, fences, patios, railings. • Tile, carpet, flooring. • Roofing, gutters, fasteners. • Interior/exterior lights. • Fireplaces, ceiling fans. • Gas fixtures and appliances (where applicable). • Shutters, doors, cabinets, windows, sliding glass doors. • Boiler, gas and electric. • Door locks, P.O. boxes and locks. • Security systems (where applicable). • Ceiling leaks. • Walls. • Pool areas, tile, jacuzzi, pool furniture. • Inspects and helps coordinate all needed make-ready repairs and services. Assists makeready staff as required to meet deadlines. • Reports all major repairs and need requisitions to senior maintenance technician and manager prior to any expenditure of funds. • Change locks and make keys. • Removes and transfers heavy appliances and equipment from storage area to apartment (or vise versa) as circumstances warrant. Assists in moving abandoned furniture, appliances, etc., to dumpster when necessary. • Be knowledgeable of inventory levels of spare parts and supplies and inform senior maintenance technician of shortages. • Assists in keeping grounds neat and free of litter. Rakes, sweeps, shovels as circumstances warrant. • Performs any additional duties assigned by senior maintenance technician and manager. Requirements: QUALIFICATIONS Position requires at least 2 year experience in apartment maintenance. High School Graduate or Equivalent Training (If not, must have 5 years maintenance experience.) Valid Driver’s License Knowledge of Basic Mechanical Concepts Heating and Air Conditioning and other State Regulated Certifications where required. Equipment Requirement: Required to wear back support belt, wear goggles when working with specific equipment, wear masks and gloves and other safety equipment as tasks dictate. Work Hours: 40 hours per week. Weekends as circumstances warrant; on-call on a rotating basis and for emergencies. Lead HVAC Service Technician

As a Lead HVAC Service Technician, you will be a key mentor to other team members, helping them expand their HVAC knowledge and skills to enhance the strength of the team overall. In this role, the Lead HVAC Service Technician will be responsible for providing service, installation, and maintenance to customers with a wide range of commercial clients. Your tasks will include installing, commissioning, troubleshooting, repairing, and starting up HVAC systems in commercial settings — ranging from new facility setups to retrofitting existing facilities. The Lead Technician will also perform both scheduled and unscheduled preventive maintenance, inspections, site surveys, and service requests, which may include equipment replacements or modifications as requested by customers. RESPONSIBILITES: • Uphold Gallo Mechanical Services and customer safety standards and ensure compliance on all job sites. Provide safety leadership, guidance and training to Technicians and subcontractors. • Perform Service Calls, PM Services and Project Work as required. • On Call per the branch on call rotation. • Mentor and support Technicians within the branch. Provide on-the-job training and guidance for other technicians on technical issues. • Troubleshoot complex system issues and provide effective solutions or guidance on resolution. • Act as the primary escalation contact from the branch to the technical resources at headquarters and/or OEMs for critical issues.
