Maintenance Employee

Job Title: Maintenance Employee Reports to: Store Manager Status: Non-Exempt • **This position is part time in Huron, SD. Desired availability is Wednesday and Friday 8am to 1pm and Thursdays 11am to 4pm with the flexibility to pick up hours during the week for things such as assembly, truck days, snow removal, general maintenance issues, etc. Summary The general maintenance employee will be responsible for maintaining and repairing company buildings, grounds, and other property with direction from the facilities manager. Such tasks will include (but are not limited to): vehicle repair, painting, repairing flooring/windows/roofs, basic plumbing/electrical/carpentry/HVAC projects, and snow removal. All duties and projects need to be thoroughly executed within a timely manner. Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on buildings, grounds, and other equipment as directed by the facilities manager • Assist with general upkeep of facilities and grounds • Ability to operate, or learn to operate, various company tools, equipment, and machines • Perform routine inspections to prevent broken equipment or determine if repairs are needed • Apply preventative measures to reduce risk of future problems • Install equipment, shelving, appliances, etc. as needed • Fixing potential safety hazards to avoid injuries • Ability to communicate with all levels of employees within the company • Some travel, in a company vehicle, to outlying locations will be required • Additional duties as assigned by management Employee Role Expectations • Maintain regular and punctual attendance as scheduled • Learn and follow all company safety procedures and protocols • Proper use of tools, equipment, and machines to prevent injury to self and/or others • Basic maintenance skills: plumbing, electrical, mechanical, carpentry, and vehicle maintenance • Follow verbal and/or written instruction • Must work with accuracy and have strong attention to detail • Ability to work independently or as a team member • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask • Follow all local and state building codes Qualifications • High school diploma or equivalent required (or in progress) • Basic math and computer skills • Ability to read and write in English • Current and valid driver's license and clean driving record Physical Requirements • Frequently position self to lift or move objects and operate equipment within the DC • Constantly lift and/or move objects up to 10 lbs., frequently up to 50 lbs., and occasionally up to 100 lbs. with or without accommodation • Work with full range of hands, wrists, and arms (i.e. Ability to pick up and pinch small items with fingers, and seize, hold, grasp or turn objects with hands) • Visual requirements include vision from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet with or without correction • Must have depth perception, color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors), and field of vision • Must have ability to communicate verbally with staff & coworkers • Must be able to work in a setting with exposure to outdoor elements including, but not limited to, extreme temperatures and loud environments
