Pay Grade 519 FILING DEADLINE DATE The deadline to apply is Thursday, July 24, 2025 GENERAL DESCRIPTION The purpose of this classification is to inspect, diagnose, repair, and install heating, ventilation; air conditioning and refrigeration systems and related equipment as well as perform preventive maintenance and routine servicing. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent • Four (4) years of related experience • Additional years of related education may substitute for years of experience • Additional years of related experience may substitute for years of education ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS • Performs skilled maintenance work in the repair and installation of HVAC equipment, components, timers, motors and wiring systems • Estimates costs required for maintenance; monitors equipment and inventory to ensure there are sufficient supplies • Requisitions materials and supplies • Conduct regular preventive maintenance inspections of refrigeration units, isolated heating and ventilating units • Maintain maintenance records and complete work orders • Performs related work as assigned SPECIAL LICENSE/CERTIFICATION • Journeyman HVAC License • Universal EPA Refrigerant Technician Certification SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS • All positions require drug testing and background check before employment and may require a post-job offer physical as stated in Ordinances 21-14(b), 22-13 and 23-16. • Must be available for on-call and call-back duty. • Must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays as assigned and on emergencies.
