Class 4 Service Technician • The ability to perform trouble shooting and repairs on all types of air-cooled chillers, pumps, and low-pressure boilers. • Advanced troubleshooting on all air-cooled equipment, both unitary and chilled water. • Basic understanding of water-cooled chillers. • Basic understanding of DDC control systems. • Capable of maintaining and repairing cooling towers. • Ability to diagnose water flow issues. • Proficient with variable frequency drives and starters. • Proficient with low pressure boilers. Class 5 Service Technician • All skills listed in the Class 4 sections above plus understanding of water-cooled chillers, chilled water systems, large chiller rebuilds, rigging, large boilers, pumps, and assist with technical support to other technicians. • Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair large, water-cooled chillers. • Diagnose issues on large boilers with power burners. • Advanced diagnosis of air distribution systems (VAV/PIU). • Chilled water system distribution and troubleshooting. • Troubleshoot and repair/rebuild large pumps. • Possess superior system knowledge and advanced troubleshooting skills. Qualifications: • Strong written and verbal communication skills. • Working knowledge of computer and tablets. • Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations. • Ability to work well in a team environment. • Strong adaptability skills. Required Experience, Certifications, and Education: • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. • Trade/Technical School certification or degree preferred. • Four to five years plus of commercial/industrial HVAC experience including exposure to control, compound and reciprocating systems as well as refrigerants. Experience level is based on technician classifications described above. • Valid Driver’s License. • EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification Physical Requirements: Must be able to climb ladders, lift and carry 50 or more pounds, distinguish colors for electrical work and tolerate confined spaces.
