Carpenter – Residential Construction

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Carpenter with proven experience in residential construction to join our team. The ideal candidate will assist in all phases of building and rehabilitation of residential homes, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to high-quality standards. This is a hands-on role requiring knowledge of construction techniques, tools, and materials, as well as a strong commitment to teamwork and craftsmanship. • Perform a variety of tasks related to new home construction and home rehabilitation (framing, drywall, roofing, siding, flooring, painting, finish carpentry, etc.). • Assist with demolition and site preparation work as needed. • Read and interpret blueprints, project plans, and specifications under supervision. • Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively. • Measure, cut, and assemble materials accurately according to project requirements. • Ensure all work complies with applicable building codes, safety regulations, and company standards. • Maintain a clean and organized job site, ensuring tools and materials are properly stored. • Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, subcontractors, and volunteers (if applicable). • Identify potential project challenges and promptly report them to the supervisor. • Help with inventory and loading/unloading of materials and equipment. • Follow all company policies regarding safety, conduct, and project guidelines. Preferred Skills: • Experience with home rehabilitation projects. • Basic plumbing, electrical, or HVAC skills. • Ability to supervise small crews or volunteers, if needed. • Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) are a plus. Job Summary: The Carpenter, Roofing is based at the Purvis, MS manufacturing plant, with operations in the U.S. and has overall responsibility for constructing, assembling, and ensuring the quality of wooden structures through precise measurement, cutting, and assembly techniques, while adhering to safety and production standards and meeting customer specifications. This position reports directly to the Manager, Plant (or Supervisor, Plant) and does not have direct reports. Job Responsibilities: • Constructs, assembles, and installs wooden roofs for sheds and outdoor buildings, ensuring precision in measurement, cutting, and placement. • Collaborates with the design team to implement roofing concepts that enhance the overall aesthetics of our structures. • Selects and prepares roofing materials, including lumber, shingles, and other necessary components, ensuring compliance with design specifications and quality standards. • Utilizes roofing techniques to ensure proper ventilation, insulation, and waterproofing of wooden roofs. • Implements industry best practices to enhance the longevity and durability of the roofing structures. • Conducts thorough quality checks on completed roofs to ensure they meet design specifications, safety standards, and overall quality expectations. • Addresses and rectifies any discrepancies identified during quality inspections. • Customizes roofing structures based on customer preferences and special orders. • Collaborates with the sales team to ensure accurate implementation of customer specifications. • Works closely with other carpenters, designers, and team members to ensure seamless integration of roofs into the overall structure. • Adheres to safety protocols and maintains a clean workspace. • Assists in other duties within the carpentry manufacturing plant, including the following: • Erector/Siding. • Electrical. • Flooring. • Framing. • Painting/Trim. • Press/Rafting. • Ramps/Accessories. • Small Structures. • Trusses. • Vinyl.
