Job Title: Manufacturing Carpenter Job Description We are currently seeking skilled manufacturing carpenters to join our team in a facility that builds and repairs modular trailers. The ideal candidate will have the ability to use hand tools, read a tape measure, and operate equipment efficiently. While prior experience in basic electrical work, carpentry, and plumbing is preferred, it is not mandatory. Responsibilities • Perform carpentry repairs and installations in modular trailers. • Utilize hand and power tools effectively for construction tasks. • Read and interpret measurements using a tape measure. • Perform finishing carpentry work, including roofing and painting. • Assist with basic electrical and plumbing tasks as needed. • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the workspace. • Operate a floor buffer and maintain equipment. Essential Skills • Proficiency in construction and carpentry. • Ability to use hand tools and power tools. • Capability to read and interpret tape measure readings. • Experience in finish carpentry and roofing. • Basic electrical and plumbing knowledge. • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. • Independence and efficiency in a fast-paced environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Must have own basic hand tools, including hammer, screwdrivers, and wrench set. • Basic computer knowledge is advantageous. • Experience in welding is a plus. Work Environment This role involves working both indoors in the shop and outdoors in the yard, which can be subject to varying weather conditions. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Midland, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $28.00/hr. Your Job The jobsite located in Stanton, TX has an opening for a Carpenter. Our Team Optimized Process Designs, LLC (OPD) is an engineering/construction company headquartered in Katy, TX with an expertise in the natural gas, natural gas liquids, and petrochemical industries. What You Will Do Some core responsibilities for a carpenter include: • Prepare the layout of the project. • Estimate height, width, length, and other proportions. • Work with blueprints or instructions from supervisors. • Utilize hammers, pry-bars, chisels, planes, saws, drills, and sanders to repair and erect structures. • Work on ladders, and scaffolding. • Check work along the way to ensure it's up to code and specifications. • Use levels, rules, plumb bobs, framing squares, and surveying equipment to ensure everything is level and secure. • Create structures for pouring concrete. • Erect scaffolding. • Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules. Perform other duties as required. • Aim to achieve high production with good quality output. We expect all field employees to: • Actively participate in a strong safety culture. • Recognize safety hazards and risks. • Participate in onsite safety meetings. • Follow OPD and client safety policies and procedures. • Be aware of changing conditions on an active jobsite. • Be on time to the jobsite each day ready for work. • Display a positive attitude and be able to work in a team environment. Some physical demands of being a Carpenter include: • Capable of working in outdoor weather and environmental conditions including extreme heat and humidity, extreme cold, and high elevations. • Lifting and carrying awkward objects up to 60 lbs. • Standing for extended periods of time up to 11 hours per day. Breaks are given in 2.5 hour intervals. • Moving the entire body. Considerable use of arms, legs, climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, crawling, twisting, reaching, and bending on a regular basis. • Must have good hand-eye coordination. • Use hands to handle, control, and feel objects and/or tools. Who You Are (Basic Qualifications) • Two years of previous experience as a carpenter. • Must be able to read blueprints and do basic math calculations Other Job Requirements: • Travel is a must with extended periods away from home in remote areas at times. • Must be willing to work outside in extreme heat, humidity, and cold conditions. • Must be willing to attend mandatory safety meetings. • Must be willing to work in a team environment. • Must be willing to work shifts up to 12 hours per day and 7 days per week. • Must be able to meet basic physical requirements.
