The Tradesmen Group LLC is seeking an experienced carpenter with at least 3 years of experience working on commercial projects with finish carpentry for long-term employment . Building restoration experience is a plus. TTG is an award-winning full-service building rehabilitation/restoration company. Primary duties include and require • Proper setup and protection of work areas • Ability to perform meticulous, quality work without oversight and to work independently when required • Daily cleanup & tidiness • Able to produce carpentry assemblies for historic restoration projects from shop drawings and specifications Essential Skills & Employment Criteria • Ability to work independently when needed without direct supervision and remain on task • Person is trained & experienced in use of finish carpentry tools and equipment to include various saws, compressors, nail guns, impact guns, drills, routers, planers and other woodworking equipment • Person has experience and understanding with use of shop woodworking equipment to include, planers, jointers, drill press, routers, table saws, sanders, lathes and other similar equipment • Person is familiar with basic/typical species of wood used in common finish carpentry • Person can competently measure, cut & fit finished millwork and lumber of all types with measurements accurate to within 1/32” to 1/16” of an inch, including miters and angles • Person can competently use a framing and speed square for finding angles • Person can competently mark and cut angles and miters on finish grade lumber • Person can competently cope inside miters for installation of millwork with coping saw • Person is capable of installing finish millwork that is plumb, square, level and true • Person is competent at independently executing layout and install all common finish millwork to include door & window casing, base board, crown molding, cornice construction, common straight staircases and similar interior/exterior finish carpentry items for both stained and painted finish • Person can read blueprints and determine layouts and dimensions from prints • OSHA 10 training is required prior to job start • Ability to pass a security clearance We work where we live, and it shows. Essential Duties & Key Responsibilities: • Fully comprehend scopes of work per plans and specifications to complete job assignment. • Inventory supplies and give supply orders to Foreman for re-stocking. • Ensure Trade employees, subcontractors, and vendors follow Turner standards, safety codes, regulations, and jobsite security. • Think though processes and activities to construct rough carpentry items as assigned. • Conduct complete rough carpentry work including but not limited to building walkways, structures, enclosures, railings, stairs, temporary doors/openings, items required for site safety, and other temporary means for construction or site requirements. • Gather and transport materials, take measurements, cut materials, and install materials as related to rough carpentry assignments. • Measure and translate measurements into proper cuts and layout. • Identify and assess jobsite hazards and use carpentry skills to correct identified problems. • Display high level of teamwork, integrity, commitment, and leadership in daily operations. • Fully understand work instructions, project signage, and safety instructions from tool and equipment manufacturers and prepare and inspect tools prior use to ensure safe and working condition. • Participate in daily Pre-Task Plans, follow safety expectations for operation of equipment and tools, select appropriate equipment for performing work, adhere to safety protocols to perform work, and wear appropriate PPE (Personal Protection Equipment). • Operate equipment including forklifts, backhoe, skid steer, excavator, compactors, and construction hoist. • Ensure security of equipment and work area while conducting operations. • Identify, communicate, and escalate problems and issues to supervisor for immediate resolution. • Track production of completed tasks and maintain clean and organized work area. • Maintain positive working relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers and other employees. • Other activities, duties, and responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications: • Minimum of 3 years of rough carpentry experience required or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience • Proficient knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in construction or repair of buildings or other structures, foundations, and framing • Ability to understand and interpret construction contract documents, drawings (e.g., shop, structural, blueprints, sketches, and/or building plans), specifications, scopes of work, vendor tags, and project schedule to determine dimensions and materials to execute work activities • Proficient use of related tools to complete work assignments • Knowledge of and able to apply arithmetic and basic geometry to work tasks • Ability to measure, read, and convey lengths with ruler or tape with high degree of accuracy • Strong planning and analysis skills • Able to think critically and use good judgment to solve problems • Ability to take direction, work independently with minimal supervision, and in team environment • Ability to apply active listening skills, ask clarifying questions, and complete assignments as directed • Clear and professional verbal and written communication skills • Reliable transportation required • Ability to travel using various modes (e.g., automobile, train, air) and accommodate night and weekend work as needed • Valid state Driver's License to operate equipment and/or travel as needed Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
