Finish Carpenter Preserve History Through Craftsmanship The Tradesmen Group LLC (TTG) is currently hiring a skilled Finish Carpenter with at least 3 years of experience working on long-term commercial construction projects. Experience in historic restoration is highly valued but not required. This is a great opportunity to contribute to meaningful work that preserves architectural heritage in Nashville and surrounding areas. Primary Responsibilities: • Set up and protect work areas according to project standards • Perform high-quality finish carpentry work independently and with minimal supervision • Maintain clean and organized job sites daily • Interpret shop drawings and specifications to produce accurate carpentry assemblies for restoration projects Required Skills & Qualifications: • Ability to work independently and stay focused without direct oversight • Proficient in using finish carpentry tools and equipment (saws, drills, routers, planers, nail guns, compressors, etc.) • Skilled in operating woodworking shop equipment (planers, jointers, drill press, table saws, sanders, lathes, etc.) • Familiarity with common wood species used in finish carpentry • Precision in measuring, cutting, and fitting millwork and lumber to within 1/32”–1/16” accuracy • Competent in using framing and speed squares to find and mark angles • Skilled in coping inside miters and installing finish millwork that is square, level, and true • Capable of installing door/window casing, baseboards, crown molding, cornices, and staircases for both stained and painted finishes • Ability to read blueprints and determine layouts and dimensions • OSHA 10 certification required prior to job start • Must be eligible to pass a federal security clearance Why Join TTG? Essential Duties & Key Responsibilities: • Fully comprehend scopes of work per plans and specifications to complete job assignment. • Inventory supplies and give supply orders to Foreman for re-stocking. • Ensure Trade employees, subcontractors, and vendors follow Turner standards, safety codes, regulations, and jobsite security. • Think though processes and activities to construct rough carpentry items as assigned. • Conduct complete rough carpentry work including but not limited to building walkways, structures, enclosures, railings, stairs, temporary doors/openings, items required for site safety, and other temporary means for construction or site requirements. • Gather and transport materials, take measurements, cut materials, and install materials as related to rough carpentry assignments. • Measure and translate measurements into proper cuts and layout. • Identify and assess jobsite hazards and use carpentry skills to correct identified problems. • Display high level of teamwork, integrity, commitment, and leadership in daily operations. • Fully understand work instructions, project signage, and safety instructions from tool and equipment manufacturers and prepare and inspect tools prior use to ensure safe and working condition. • Participate in daily Pre-Task Plans, follow safety expectations for operation of equipment and tools, select appropriate equipment for performing work, adhere to safety protocols to perform work, and wear appropriate PPE (Personal Protection Equipment). • Operate equipment including forklifts, backhoe, skid steer, excavator, compactors, and construction hoist. • Ensure security of equipment and work area while conducting operations. • Identify, communicate, and escalate problems and issues to supervisor for immediate resolution. • Track production of completed tasks and maintain clean and organized work area. • Maintain positive working relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers and other employees. • Other activities, duties, and responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications: • Minimum of 3 years of rough carpentry experience required or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience • Proficient knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in construction or repair of buildings or other structures, foundations, and framing • Ability to understand and interpret construction contract documents, drawings (e.g., shop, structural, blueprints, sketches, and/or building plans), specifications, scopes of work, vendor tags, and project schedule to determine dimensions and materials to execute work activities • Proficient use of related tools to complete work assignments • Knowledge of and able to apply arithmetic and basic geometry to work tasks • Ability to measure, read, and convey lengths with ruler or tape with high degree of accuracy • Strong planning and analysis skills • Able to think critically and use good judgment to solve problems • Ability to take direction, work independently with minimal supervision, and in team environment • Ability to apply active listening skills, ask clarifying questions, and complete assignments as directed • Clear and professional verbal and written communication skills • Reliable transportation required • Ability to travel using various modes (e.g., automobile, train, air) and accommodate night and weekend work as needed • Valid state Driver's License to operate equipment and/or travel as needed Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
