Carpenter 1

Performs rough and finished interior and exterior carpentry work involved in building maintenance repair and alterations. Performs such activities as fabricating repairs and installing door frames, casings, keys and windows, replacing screens and window glass, maintaining panic hardware, repairing ceiling tiles as needed, installing drop ceilings, repairing and installing floor tiles and performing preventive maintenance on all buildings. Performs other miscellaneous duties (e.g., cleans shop, oils and cleans equipment, sharpens tools and reads blueprints). Assists in other trade as needed. Minimum Qualifications Completion of a formal apprenticeship, preferably a four (4) year apprenticeship, plus five years experience as a journeyman carpenter. Must be able to read and work from blueprints and be capable of fabricating and laminating cabinetry. Must be able and willing to work from a ladder up to ten feet, work in inclement weather, and work overtime when needed. Must have a currently valid Ohio driver’s license and establish driver eligibility under the University’s Motor Vehicle Policy.
