Finish Carpenter Location: Cedar Rapids and Iowa City corridor About the role You will perform high quality interior finish work on residential and commercial projects. You must be able to work independently and in a team, read drawings, and deliver precise results with clean fit and finish. Also relevant backgrounds include trim carpenter, cabinet installer, millwork installer, and door installer. Responsibilities • Install trim, base, casing, and crown with clean coped joints and tight, consistent reveals. • Scribe base and casing to irregular walls for a tight, clean fit. • Install and adjust pre hung interior doors for smooth operation and correct reveals. • Set commercial door frames, including knock down and welded frames, and install closers and panic hardware. • Perform cabinet and millwork installs. Set boxes, fillers, scribes, and hardware with consistent alignment and reveal. • Install paneling, wainscoting, and chair rail with accurate layout and finish quality. • Install and adjust pocket door systems for smooth travel and proper clearances. • Read and interpret drawings. Confirm field conditions and lay out work accurately. • Perform FRP layout and installation when specified. • Use advanced field power tools and maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area. Foundational Tasks • Verify measurements and make precise cuts using a tape measure and utility knife. • Perform responsible demo of trim, casework, and finishes when required. • Install basic fixtures and hardware while maintaining alignment and function. • Execute basic layout and blocking to support finish installations. Qualifications • 6 or more years of professional finish carpentry experience, or equivalent skill. • Competent with common hand tools and advanced power tools. • Proven problem solving, layout, and attention to detail. • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. • Personal basic tool set for general carpentry tasks. Compensation • $27 to $32 per hour depending on verified skills and placement within our Carpenter Tier System. A 90 day review is available for advancement when higher tier skills are demonstrated. Physical requirements • Lift up to 50 pounds. Stand, bend, and work from ladders or scaffolding. • Work safely in active construction environments.
