Clinton Engineering is looking for a qualified Carpenter to install structures and fixtures, construct building frameworks, and lead laborers and other construction helpers to complete work. An ideal candidate would have excellent multitasking and problem-solving capabilities. The Carpenter role also requires collaboration with managers, laborers and clients throughout the project process to ensure deadlines and expectations are met for both the company and the customer. This position requires a high degree of accuracy, attention to detail and knowledge of carpentry. Additional responsibilities include: • Following blueprints and building plans to meet client needs • Install structures and fixtures such as windows, molding, and cabinets • Measure, cut, and/or shape wood, plastic and other materials • Construct building frameworks, including floors, walls, trusses, and door frames • Help erect, level, and install building framework with the aid of rigging hardware and cranes • Collaborate with or direct laborers and other construction helpers The successful candidate will have: • High school diploma, or equivalent • A minimum of 1-year experience and/or training in construction; or an equivalent combination of education and experience • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and manuals, project plans and specifications • Ability to perform math functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division using whole numbers, common fraction and decimals • Valid driver’s license Why should you work here? The General Laborer is responsible for performing duties to ensure a quality product is being provided in a safe and productive manner. This could include assisting with concrete set-up, shoveling, raking, string-line set-up, steel layout and other physical tasks. Whether you're in the field at Manufacturing Drive or the Bickelhaupt Arboretum, or working at Lyondell-Bassell, you will be working alongside a team to ensure that projects are completed safely and efficiently. What makes you successful in this position? • Understanding specifications or tolerances (pavement thickness, offsets, widths, framing, etc.) or the ability to learn them for construction or highway work • Ability to read and understand documents, write routine reports, and basic emails/correspondence • Basic math skills, such as adding; subtracting; multiplying; and dividing whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals • Team player mentality and the desire to be a part of a successful, hard-working team. • Previous, demonstrated reliability and attendance Requirements in this Position: • Possession of a valid driver's license. • Ability to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen. • Previous experience as a laborer preferred but not required Depending on business need and where your skills are best utilized, your work hours could be Monday through Friday 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM OR Monday through Thursday (4-10's) from 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
