Wind Technician II

Individuals understand the mechanics, including both electrical and maintenance of hydraulics, of all wind turbine components. This position replaces mechanical and electrical components, understands schematics and uses appropriate diagnostic tools. The successful candidate will interpret fault reports, maintain power generation reports, service logs in the computer database, and monitor turbine performance and SCADA systems. Your Impact The Solar Field Service Technician (Operations and Maintenance), Level II in the PEARCE Renewables Solar Operations and Maintenance Division performs tasks involving physical labor at solar energy sites near Mojave, California . The Solar Field Service Technician is responsible for the operation and maintenance (O&M) of solar power plants in accordance with established preventative and corrective maintenance standards while always maintaining safety and professionalism. This is a local site-candidates should reside within 50 miles of the Mojave, California area. Core Responsibilities Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance of equipment. Responsible for documentation including, but not limited to, work orders, time logs, inventory control, and emergency information schedules. Provide a working knowledge of troubleshooting electrical components with help and use of digital multi-meters, meggers, amp clamps, and similar equipment. Testing/troubleshooting installed equipment and ensuring proper working order. Must have a strong safety background with experience in Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA). Able work in a solo as well as a group environment. Operate and maintain a motor vehicle safely and legally per the PEARCE Renewables Employee Handbook and insurance requirements. Specific duties may vary or evolve over time based on business and client needs. Core Experience 1+ years' experience in Solar commercial/industrial operations and maintenance (O&M) on solar power plants is preferred. Preventive maintenance experience on Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) equipment is preferred. Candidates should possess strong mechanical and electrical experience with troubleshooting and installation skills. Specific solar experience with Inverters, Tracker Systems, or Sub-Stations Equipment (TMEIC/SMA/Sungrow/Nextracker/ATI, etc.) is preferred. Takes initiative to escalate issues at site. Ability to train, mentor, and develop laborers into Apprentices. High aptitude and a strong work ethic are a must. Physical/Work Environment At Pearce safety is our number one concern. Candidates must be able to comply with OSHA Standards. Must live within approximately 50 miles of Mojave, California. Be exposed to ambient temperatures while working outdoors. Job Description Safety Engineer I - Wind SUMMARY Mortenson is currently seeking a passionate Safety Engineer I for our Wind Operating Group who can interact with a variety of staff at all levels in an ever-changing environment, remaining flexible, resourceful, proactive and efficient with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. The Safety Engineer will work to implement Mortenson's Zero Injury Safety program at a project site and ensure a safe work environment for team members, subcontractors, and visitors to the construction work site. RESPONSIBILITIES • Implement and administer safety programs at each worksite for team members • Assist project management team in developing and executing site-specific safety programs and activities • Attend, coordinate, and conduct safety orientation and training programs at the project level • Document and track all safety violations, unsafe conditions, etc. • Conduct work area safety audits • Conduct project's leading and trailing indicator data/document collection and trend analyses • Conduct or assist with major incident analysis • Record, monitor, and analyze Safety, Injury, and Hazard statistics • Coordinate OSHA reporting and posting requirements • Review safety submittals and attend preconstruction and preparatory meetings with subcontractors • Monitor and review trade partner work plans and activities for safety concerns • Assist with onsite injury management and case management • Monitor Return to Work and Modified Duty assignments • Assist with the organization and implementation of project safety celebrations and recognition/reward programs • Participate in and contribute to project planning and hazard analysis • Provide resources for safety-related information • Evaluate and offer solutions for industrial hygiene concerns • Maintain operational knowledge of construction safety, OSHA, ANSI, and other applicable standards, regulations, laws, and procedures • Serve as a resource for safety issues or concerns for all project team members • Attend and/or chair safety meetings • Interface with client safety personnel, union representatives, insurance risk engineers, etc. • Accompany safety, health, insurance, and OSHA personnel on work-site tours • Ensure maintenance and inspection of safety equipment and protective wear • Maintain project site Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and assist the Project Manager with the management of the safety budget allocated for the project • Perform other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS • Previous related internship preferred • Detail-oriented with the ability to organize and manage multiple project tasks • Proficient in Microsoft Office and pertinent safety-related software programs • Positive and professional attitude with strong customer service skills • Ability to interpret and communicate company policies to team members and outside parties • Strong teamwork orientation, initiative, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills • Effective public speaking and presentation skills • Current driver's license • Willingness to travel - rotations, 3 weeks on site and 5 days off • Bachelor's degree in safety, occupational health, or related field OR high school diploma, STS/CHST Certification, OSHA 30 Hour Training, and a minimum of 5 years of continuous construction experience leading crews and planning work, including at least 3 years with responsibility for: • Managing safety programs at the crew or project level • Conducting and reviewing hazard analyses and developing controls • Planning work activities • Equivalent experience in a relevant field A few benefits offered include: (for Non-Craft & Non-Union Craft working 25+ hours / week) Medical and prescription drug plans that includes no additional cost vision coverage Dental plan 401k retirement plan with a generous Mortenson match Paid time off, holidays, and other paid leaves Employer paid Life, AD&D, and disability insurance No-Cost mental health tool and concierge with extensive work-life resources Tuition reimbursement Adoption Assistance Gym Membership Discount Program • *The base pay range for this role is $76,800 - $96,000.
